“Beneath anger, there are hurt feelings.”
-Yong Kang Chan
Benson Dunwoody, the ever-strict manager of the Park.
Nicole Watterson, the short-tempered mother of the Wattersons.
Anger is a tool fueled only by ambition, and sometimes even mastered for mayhem. Through letting the dust settle and the flames quiet down, it’s important to view our temperamental outbursts as productive, but they often get destructive. It can be difficult manage that anger, especially when you have to deal with a couple of knuckleheads who seem to create chaos and destruction wherever they go, if ONLY they could just stay still or obey simple instructions, THEN WE WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY-
Relax… relax… Let’s start the blog.
Before We Begin...
For both Benson and Nicole’s media, we’ll be pulling from their original shows as well as Gumball’s two spinoffs and continuations for our main source material. Comics and graphic novels of both shows will also be used, as they both don’t really contradict anything in the seasons themselves. While the games of both shows could be considered non-canon, we’ll be using them as well as it only seems fair. Pretty much the only thing off our menu is crossover scaling between other shows, but things like abilities and items shown in crossovers that characters would likely have to begin with is fine. Along with that, we’ll also be addressing certain crossover-related arguments in the Before the Verdicts section. Also we’ll be giving them one-time or situational abilities / items they’ve had in the past as well, since it just makes this fight more fun. For clarity:
Benson:
Regular Show S1-8
Regular Show comics and graphic novels
The many Regular Show video games
Nicole:

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball S1A
The Gumball Chronicles & Darwin’s Yearbook
The Amazing World of Gumball comics and graphic novels

Background
Benson
“YOU’RE FIRED!”
- Full Name: Benson Dunwoody
- Likes: Clipboards, animals, wings, gold watches, Mordecai and Rigby
- Dislikes: East Pines, slackers, Party Horse, the Drumatron VI, Mordecai and Rigby
- Manager of The Park
- Former drum player and stick hockey professional
- The current reincarnation of the Holy Order of Orderliness
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines 'a boss' as 'a person who exercises control or authority, one who directs or supervises workers,' and below that description there is a picture of Benson Dunwoody. But Benson wasn't always this mandatory boss, in fact he comes from a verbally abusive household that just loved confrontation and screaming. Being the youngest of his relatives, Benson soon learned that if he wanted to get his way in the world he had to yell for it. Anything that was in Benson’s way always got demolished due to his constant outrages. Partner that with Benson’s dad never really supporting his more specific interests, and you can pretty easily understand where this innate sense of anger came from.
It was hard for Benson to find peace in his early life, but he did! Taking up an interest in stick hockey (like foosball, but with hockey), Benson got really into it. Like, he even became a world-class professional of it! With his best friend Dave, him and Benson took the stick hockey world by storm and faced off against their rival. Chong. Who decapitated Dave with two of the stick hockey rods during their final battle. Diabolical. This swore Benson off of stick hockey for good, and he decided to pursue something else. Why not a life in the arts? Musical arts, that is. Specifically a… British hair metal band? Weird, but appealing to Benson. Hell yeah, punk rock! Who doesn’t love the drummer in a metal band, right? And Benson was actually pretty freaking great at it! For a time he would be the main drummer for the band 'Hair to the Throne' where he would perform his "Legendary Drum Solo" on the 150-piece drum kit on the band's first album. Unfortunately though, Benson was uncredited from this feat, being replaced with the Drumatron VI. Damn you, technological advancements! Because of this, Benson promptly left the band to pursue a life of...
...Park management? Well, a lot less cool than the last two things, but still a steady job at least. Right? Well, this job only got ol’ Ben so far. Later down the line these… Things started happening more and more at the Park. Things that were destructive and out of order. Things Benson had to fix. Two of Benson’s employees, Mordedcai and Rigby, were famous for slacking off on their jobs. In fact they were so terrible at their jobs that on one of their first days they unleashed the Destroyer of Worlds onto the Park while trying to play an arcade game…How does that even work? Moredcai and Rigby’s adventures continued throughout the years, and continued to push Benson’s buttons ever so slightly. They somehow even brought Benson back to his old days of stick hockey and hair metal, reluctantly Benson beat his old rival Chong for good, and proved himself worthy of his drumset skills to his old friends. Gosh, how annoying. Benson had to deal with these two slackers for years, enduring mishap after monster that came his way. And Benson had to clean up after nearly every single event… Unless he made Mordecai and Rigby do it, or else they would get fired. Benson never managed to actually pull the plug on Mordo and Riggs, but oh boy did he yell at them. He yelled and yelled so much one time that his anger manifested into a fiery rage, almost destroying the Park entirely this time! All on his own! Damn! Talk about parks and wreck. These weird events occurring at the Park caused it to be researched and separated from the rest of the world. This arc was called… The Dome Experiment.
A scientific process in which researchers would see how the Park would operate as its own ecosystem, bereft of unusual things. Benson, being put as one of the main researchers in the experiment, met a girl he really liked! A scientist named Pam who shared his love of chicken wings, and animals! Together both of them soon realized that the whole Dome Experiment was actually not studying the Park, but studying the people within it! Creepy... Benson pulled out some crazy archery skills out of nowhere, and saved his friends from the evil scientists. That’s surely the end of crazy things spiking Benson’s anger to its peak, right? Well… not really. Things didn’t really change, and it was at this point in Benson’s life where he realized he might have to control his anger more often. But it was only then that he faced the most challenging problem he ever had to overcome.
Down on his luck one night, Benson took a walk and was inspired by an old crotchety woman to retire from his job once and for all. The moment Benson quit, the literal apocalypse broke loose and who better to fix it then uh… Mordecai and Rigby!?... Who found in their old employee handbooks that Benson was the only way to turn things back to how they used to be. So, as it turns out, Benson isn’t just your average angry boss. He doesn’t want things in order simply because he likes it that way, he’s quite literally is prophetically inclined to make things in order because he’s the reincarnation of the “Holy Order of Orderliness,” a god that manifests itself into one person every millenia or so to combat the evil forces of chaos. Benson, yet to realize these powers inside himself, was found once again by Mordecai and Rigby. Reluctant (as usual) to help the apocalypse turn back to normal, he had to realize the potential inside himself on his own. Benson, with his head in his heart, er, gumballs, returned to the Park to see what he could do. Apparently, the old woman who told him to retire in the first place was the Oracle of Chaos. A reincarnation similar to Benson’s, but one that expelled chaos instead of order. When Benson saw his entire precious park torn to shreds, threatening his friends and everything he stood for, his Order form awakened within himself. With a few blasts of this weird sparkly aura around him, he fixed up the Park completely and killed the Oracle’s influence forever.
With that all settled, Benson took a step back to remember what he had accomplished in his life. Pursued interests his father would’ve disapproved of, managed a park gaining lifelong friends because of it, and quite literally saved the world because of how well-ordered he was. Without chaos in his life, he wouldn’t be where he is today because of it. Heck, if it wasn’t for the two most chaotic employees in the entire world, he wouldn’t have accomplished any of these goals in the first place. Even 25 years later, Benson would continue to work as the Park's manager, guiding a new generation of employees to maintain this small park where so many adventures took place. He’s more than just an angry boss giving directions. He was a fan of animals, an enjoyer of wings, an excellent drummer, a lover, but most of all… A friend.
Nicole
“No, it was the school of life! I have raised three kids and one husband!!”
- Full Name: Doctor Nicole Watterson (née Senicourt)
- Likes: Her family, money, promotions, martial arts, parkour, anime, Santa Claus
- Dislikes: Her family, trouble, Ms. Simian, being wrong, Felicity, ugly vases
- Saleswoman at the Rainbow Factory
- Former martial arts champion
- Trained under the Black Hat Organization
Some are born into greatness, others have it thrust upon them, but for Doctor Nicole Watterson, she was… a CEO? As you can tell, from the second Nicole was born, her parents placed too many insane expectations on her, enrolling her in numerous extracurricular activities, all at the same time, making sure she got straight A's in all her subjects, including gender, and meticulously planning every minute of her life. And, before you ask, no. She isn’t an actual doctor, that’s just her legal first name. Her parents seriously put that much pressure on her even before birth. And she simply couldn’t take it, which perhaps started the massive anger problems that she would show later in life. Culminating on one day in particular, where she happened to be running late for her martial arts tournament. Taking a different route to the arena she stumbled upon a log, but not just an ordinary log, but one containing a stuffed pink rabbit inside named Richard! After accidentally freeing himself, she had time to relax and began to confess. Why is she fighting? Because she has to keep competing. Why is she competing? Because she has to be the best. Why does she have to be the best? Because if she wasn’t the best, no one would like her. But, why not live your life? … Why not live her life?
From then on, Nicole and Richard began hanging out with each other, and what started as a small childhood friendship would grow into a mutual crush. Unfortunately, her parents immediately disapproved of him, thinking he wasn't good enough for her, so they had to start secretly dating, seeing each other behind their backs, and going on dates that usually landed them in court. Literally. Time passed, and Nicole realized that her relationship with her parents was beyond repair and there was no point in trying to fix it, so one day she decided to walk out of her parents' house to start over and create something better alongside Richard, who was coincidentally kicked out of his house by his mom at the same time.
Her life was now her own, with the man she loved. Though it wasn’t something grand or extraordinary, Nicole was the one who got to decide that. Living about in some cramped apartment to make ends meet. From there, you know what happens, she ends up at the doctors with some alarming news for the two of them. Good news, Nicole’s pregnant! Bad news, Nicole’s pregnant. They had completely forgotten about getting properly wed, calling upon for a shotgun one instead. Even in her happiest moments, her parents refused to show up. But no matter, it was now herself that needed to stand up as she now had a kid of her own: Gumball Watterson. Who proved to be quite the challenge. Acting wayyyy too hyperactive for his own good, Nicole and Richard decided it would be best if Gumball had someone else to play with, he needed a best friend. Unexpectedly bought by Richard one day came Darwin, the family’s pet goldfish who, through a miracle only Elmore could explain, grew legs and became part of the family. At first, Nicole was horrified at first. A walking, talking goldfish in her house? Really? But soon, Darwin’s kindness and positivity melted even her stern heart. He was polite, gentle, and endlessly optimistic, and the complete opposite of Gumball. Maybe exactly what her chaotic household needed, with the little guy going from being the family pet to Nicole's second son. Shortly after Darwin came Anais, their third child. From the moment she could speak (and probably long before that), Anais was a certified genius. Nicole couldn’t help but see a bit of herself in her daughter. The drive, the perfectionism, the constant need to be the best, and the occasional tendency to take it a bit too far sometimes. As the years went by, Nicole became the rock of the family. The breadwinner, the problem-solver, the one who kept the chaos (mostly) contained. Every morning she’d wake up before sunrise, commute to her soul-crushing job at the Rainbow Factory, and come home late to a house somehow on fire… again. Or the house turned to dust… again. Or the house somehow turned upside down… again.
Basically each member of her family gives Nicole some extra stress in her daily life. Rarely by Anais, sometimes by Richard, but almost always by Gumball and Darwin, with the two inseparable brothers making the biggest troubles for Nicole, from getting her arrested by accident on her birthday, destroying the house when trying to take care of Anais, creating a monster child that ate her, pushing her to her limits at the store just because they wanted chocolate, accidentally making a bunch of people take over their house, turning THE ENTIRE CITY against them multiple times, making Richard accidentally buy them an evil turtle that nearly destroyed the city a while later, getting her captured by a ghost, putting her in a mother competition without telling her, and generally making any situation they're in significantly worse by their involvement, and those are just the things Gumball and Darwin have done that directly affected her. As the Wattersons’ mayhem grew, so did Nicole’s anger, more, and more, and more…
But in the end, isn't that just a family? All the moments of anger, rage, frustration, or overall humiliation could never take away all the happiness and joy that her family has given her. From helping her achieve their dreams, mending broken relationships from the past, or simply spending quality, fun time with them, they give Nicole the motivation to wake up every morning and work as hard as she can to give her children the childhood she never had. She would undoubtedly have become a more successful woman if she had never met Richard, but if you ask Nicole if she would have taken another route if she had known that would be her future, she would tell you: "I wouldn't change a thing."
Experience & Skill
Benson
Benson’s spent years training in professional scenarios with his stick hockey championship games, and later faced off against his rival once and for all. And this wasn’t a normal game of stick hockey. There was fire, and illusions even! Beyond his years as a professional, he’s dealt with hundreds of foes that’ve threatened the Park under Mr. Maellard, like the Destroyer of Worlds, Peeps the overseeing eye, this giant ass wizard, and who could forget… THE GEESE. Despite all of that he somehow managed to be on time to work for a thousand days straight. Later on in the years of the Park it flew to space, where Benson and the gang faced off against more cosmic threats. Benson has also demonstrated proficient archery and agility skills, which he used to fight off members of the Dome Experiment.
Nicole
As mentioned prior, Nicole was born with high expectations in mind. Learning the violin, baseball, athletics, gymnastics, chess and drama all at once. Getting straight A’s in every class and club in the process, also studying the ways of karate under Masami’s grandpa. Gaining a sense of honor under Bushido along with her senpai Yuki, although she later abandoned it. But Nicole still equally rivaled her in the future, despite Yuki training her whole life for a rematch due to gaining the greatest experience of all: Becoming a mother of three, and one husband. Letting her manage the fury of the day-to-night job at the Rainbow Factory for her constantly chaotic family with little issue, usually, for around 5 years with no vacations nor sick days off. Taking the role the same as would “crushing her enemies,” where she plans to not only out-think but to out-play as well. But whenever there’s free time, Nicole often practices with Wing Chun dummies to test out various martial art techniques such as Tiger Styles, Mawashi Geri, Axe Kick and Hammer Fist.
Arsenal
Benson
Clipboard
Your standard clipboard. Benson can’t get enough of these, and will write you up if you don’t finish your work on time. SO GET BACK TO WORK.
Station Wagon
The car Benson drives around in is presumably a Volvo 940 station wagon, based on its features. The glass was originally made up of polyvinyl butyral laminated breeze resistant glass, though was later changed to an unknown blast resistant one after Mordecai and Rigby accidentally broke the front view.
Carty
“For old cart’s sake.”
The Park’s golf cart, nicknamed Carty that one time it could talk, is the main method of transportation for the Park Workers. While it’s just your average golf cart most of the time, it’s capable of infinite speeds while turning.
Space Cart
Hey it’s like a regular golf cart, but in space! They’re not just floating cars though, as they can quickly zoom through space with ease, and come equipped with lasers, explosives, claw grabbers, oxygen tanks and grappling hooks. You know, for space golf.
Mach Infinity
This supersonic propelled jet car is inspired by the Thrust SSC, and was used by Benson to get back to the Park in time for his gold watch receiving. Originally, he didn’t make it home in time, so he needed to find another way. The Mach Infinity lived up to its name, and shot backwards in time at incalculable speeds that Benson was somehow able to handle.
Fortune Cookies
Benson can use fortune cookies to his advantage, to increase his luck with the fortune written inside of it. More elaboration on this power in Powers & Abilities.
Exo-Suit
“Goodbye, Benson.”
Crafted to be the perfect suit worn for the symbols of evil within the world. But when attempted to be bought at a cheap price, the suit escaped to live a more satisfied life alongside a park manager. When equipped the suit can become more to your liking, adapting over time to fit within your move set to become more powerful over time. Also coming with enhanced durability and techniques to help clean the suit back up in case it’s too dirty.
Book of Park Records
While this may just seem like your average record book, this holds magic properties within it. Whenever something’s written down inside of it, whether it be made to happen currently or later on, it will always happen. There’s essentially no limit to what this book can do, but if destroyed then there’s pretty much no getting it back. Also Benson may be hesitant to use it, but there’s no denying its extremely powerful reality and fate bending abilities.
House Rules
When Mordecai and Rigby started to mess stuff up, Benson made the House Rules to keep them from breaking any more rules. There's no rule against death, or time, or anything, really. And if you break these rules, then you’ll be destroyed. Its reality-bending powers are quite limited, but still powerful nonetheless.
Universal Remote
Let me tell you a funny story, there lived a second prophecy of there being a second format war and a new format raising. It was also prophesied of there being a fifth disk master. Guess who that would be…
YEP. Benson is the fifth disk master and was the only person who can freely use the universal remote. By pressing the rights of the remote it was able to turn all the nearby tech and formats against their creator, the internet itself. Ending the second format war...
Bow & Arrows
When trapped inside the dome, Benson went full Hunger Games and equipped himself with a bow. Benson is a crack shot with these, being able to aim 5 individual arrows into tiny machine gun holes multiple yards away. The bows themselves are pretty powerful as well, being able to hold onto an entire vehicle with himself and the rest of the Park Gang.
Alien Equipment
A flamethrower, bike, and helmet used to fight off the evil alien, Shannon. This is an Alien reference if you couldn’t tell.
Genie Bottle
This genie bottle, from when Benson was in his own mind, can grant any three wishes the person wants. When rubbed, a seemingly reluctant green genie will pop out to cast the wishes, which can be anything.
Smartphone
The new phone Benson got after his original had buffers on cat videos. He can make calls, text others, and download apps.
World’s Best Boss Mug
I mean he’s not the best boss in the world, but he’s certainly pretty great.
One Genuine 214-Carat Gold Watch
shiiiiinnnnny
Camera
I think we all know how a camera works bro.
P-Mails
Benson always prints out a copy of his emails in case of power outages. Filled with a watermark and everything.
150-Piece Kit
Just… Just watch this for yourself bro it’s so peak.
Gun
One time, animatronics attacked Mordecai and Margret’s date, and the Park Gang needed artillery to protect them. Yes, Benson canonically packs heat.
Ghost Toasters Items
Benson’s main method of attack here, unlike the rest of the characters who just use ghost-killing guns, is lobbing giant, explosive gumballs at ghosts. It’s unclear if these are his or someone else's, he just has them. Also the game has a few power-ups:
- The Power: Eliminates all ghosts in the area, turning them into coins.
- Golf Cart: Slams into ghosts at high speeds, killing them instantly.
- Air Jump: Allows for temporary double jumps.
Lords of Loot Items
In this fantasy tactical-RPG, you can play as Benson who wields two crossbows to shoot at enemies, with ammo that’s also gumballs? Benson, dude, stop using your insides as weaponry!
Nicole
Cartax
“But to me, he will always be… my master.”
The Watterson family car, somewhat resembling a 1977 Ford Pinto, that can miraculously survive a lot of damage for what the Wattersons go through on a daily basis. Richard has legally classified the car as a motor vehicle, making it surprisingly good at travelling underwater.
Minivan
The second Watterson family car, primarily used by Nicole, resembles a 1984 Dodge Caravan. Like Cartax, the Minivan has similarly survived through a crazy amount of the Watterson’s despite being a broken down piece of mess.
Lucky Helmet
A tinfoil hat that provides anyone who wears the helmet with good luck and happenstance. The helmet can redirect projectiles thrown at its user, make the user find objects they need, make the user’s wants come true, basically just anything specific to the user it can do. But its luck doesn’t affect itself like it does to its users, as we see it get knocked off of Gumball before too long.
Paintball Equipment
Used for a nice family outing. Outing as in eliminating her family.
Lipstick
Defiling someone else’s car??? Who do you take her for?
Crossbow
Given to her once Elmore got transformed into a fairy tale. Not only did Nicole become a Fairy Godmother, but she also became strapped.
Smartphone
As would a normal smartphone Nicole can make calls, text others or download apps. It can also be used in tandem with Ori, to be attached to various vehicles and just for support. For more elaboration on Ori, See Support.
Baton
Used to play up the role of prison guard, although we don’t see her in action with it I doubt you’d want to test the legitimacy of the baton.
Corned Beef
Only openable by women of reasonable intelligence with limited male supervision. It’s cheap.
I ❤️ Mom Mug
After everything Nicole does for her family, I’d say she’s the darndest hardworking mom I’ve seen.
Match
Can be used to create a big explosion with gas. This is for you, Elmore.
Yoshida Phone
A smartphone that controls all of the systems within the Yoshida household via their own personal app.
Sunglasses
Pulling her best T-800 impression, with the sunglasses Nicole can even identify others from a glance similar to him.
Paint
Nicole’s daily routine. She can paint herself some new eyes, face and a mouth whenever she’s too tired for proper makeup.
Wedding Dress
The old wedding dress Nicole wore when she wed Richard. Once it’s put on, everyone will figuratively and literally bend over backwards to treat you no matter how untrue it becomes. Due to the belief that you’re a beautiful girl, no matter the gender or lack of sentience. (Based. - Dash)
Rainbow Cloud Spaces
In Trophy Challenge, across the board there are spaces on which you land to provide fortunes:
- Roll Again: Self explanatory, you’re allowed to roll again.
- Freeze: You get stuck in a block of ice for a round. After the round ends you can move again and roll your dice.
- Teleport: You’re transported to a random spot on the board.
Super Slime Blitz Items
Nicole is a playable character in the endless climber game Super Slime Blitz, and she gets some power-ups to go along with it:
- Elevator Booster: See more elevators during a run.
- Magnet: Attract coins and other metal objects from a distance (Wait a minute, isn’t Benson-).
- Slow Hazards: Hazards move slower (Just hazards though, this isn’t time stop).
- Coin Booster: See more coins during a run.
- Power Punch: Boost strength to break crystalized blocks in one hit.
- Shield: Absorb one hit.
Powers & Abilities
Benson
Gumball Machine Physiology
Benson, like the rest of the Dunwoodys, is a gumball machine person, and a fully biological being despite having the structure of a machine. Surprisingly, beyond the glass heads that contain their gumballs, they have bones and other vertebrate characteristics. Their dispensers likely work as their gential areas for some reason, and if the gumballs fall out of Benson he shows that he needs to pick them up. This is likely because if the gumballs stay out for too long and are eaten, they can weirdly mind control Benson for a short time. The gumballs usually fall out if Benson crashes to the floor, so he must be weary of this. His gumball-like head is able to deflect light like from the sun, which can disintegrate someone and something to dust.
Probability Manipulation
Benson, for a time, had an extremely great luck streak going until bad luck was brought about by a bad fortune cookie that a jealous Rigby wrote. This luck can be re-manipulated by writing a good fortune instead, which could be theoretically anything. When Rigby had good luck, it essentially saved him from death by redirecting cars from his position, and made him win an arcade game without even looking. Rigby’s final good fortune even saved the Park from total annihilation.
Summoning
Benson with the other Park members is shown to be able to summon nearby items just by waving his hands. This is weirdly supported with Ghost Toasters where if you get a purple portal you can summon any of the park members, the baby ducks, The Guardians of Eternal Youth, Techmo, and even Thomas (no not the baby). Though the legitimacy of these being a genuine summoning power could be debated, See Before the Verdicts.
Non-Physical Interaction
Benson and all the other members of the park consistently interact with Fives, who is a transparent ghost.
Animal Communication
Benson is great with animals to the point of being able to communicate with normal eagles, even understanding their language.
Hammerspace
Like multiple animated characters, Benson can easily pull random stuff out of nowhere for no reason other than he needs that random thing for this scene.
Death Kwon Do Moves
Benson, even though not using it for that long, is a Death Kwon Do artist along with Mordecai and Rigby. He should have access to the same moves they do.
- Bicep Flex of Death: The Bicep Flex of Death is the first technique shown in the book. It is never shown in action, but by the looks of it, the move just looks like it's a flex.
- Leg Lifts of Death: The Leg Lifts of Death is the second technique shown in the book. Like the Bicep Flex of Death, it is never shown in action. It looks less like a fighting technique and more like an exercise. According to Sensai, it is "a good beginner's move and it is a lame move. This move would not protect you."
- Pelvic Thrust of Death: The Pelvic Thrust of Death is the third technique shown in the book. This attack is never shown in action. Sensei says that this is one of his favorites.
- The Death Punch of Death: The Death Punch of Death is the most deadly (and most redundantly named) among the techniques. It is not a beginner's move. It was first used by Rigby when he stole this page when the instructor turned his back. He eventually learned the move, and it was later used by Mordecai, Benson, Sensai, and the Grandmaster. The move is a punch done from a distance that emits a wave with unbelievable power, shown to be able to tear apart a stone fountain with ease. Its true destructive power can be exploited by making contact with the target, causing an energy pillar to explode at the point of impact, reaching high into the clouds. The only known way this move can be defended against is with the Death Block. The page after this technique is blank.
- The Death Kick of Death: Though it was not mentioned by the name, the Death Kick of Death is a known technique that mainly uses kicks. It was first used by Mordecai, Rigby, Benson, and Sensei on their journey when they infiltrated the Death Kwon Do mountain to find Sandwich of Life to cure Benson. A rapid version of the Death Kick of Death is first used by the Death Kwon Do Grandmaster against Mordecai and Rigby.
- The Death Kwon Clog: This is just clogging a toilet.
- The Death Block: The Death Block is a blocking move and the only known method of countering the Death Punch of Death. This move is first used by Mordecai, though it is later used by Rigby, Benson, and Sensai on their journey to find a Sandwich of Life cure for Benson. Considering its impressive defensive ability, it may serve as an all purpose block that can defend against many other otherwise lethal threats.
- The Death Jump: The Death Jump is a really high jump that is almost like flying. It was first used by Mordecai to save himself and Rigby from dying in the lava pit from their fight, and he later used it again along with Rigby for the first time to save themselves, Benson, and Sensei from Death Kwon Do mountain's destruction.
- The Jumping Kick of Death: Though it was not mentioned by the name, the Jumping Kick of Death is a combination between Death Jump and Death Kick of Death, first used by Mordecai and Rigby against the Death Kwon Do Axe wielding guards.
- The Death Dump: This is just shitting.
- The Step of Death: The Step of Death is a move term for taking steps throughout the first floor of Death Kwon Do mountain. The practitioner is required to say "Step of Death" with every step they take because if they don't, they will plummet to their death.
- The Death Flight: Though it was not mentioned by the name, the Death Flight is first used by the Grandmaster, Mordecai, and Rigby during their final confrontation and battle.
- The Death Push: Though it was not mentioned by the name, the Death Push is first used by the Death Kwon Do Grandmaster while he tries to deliver a blow of Double Death Sandwich into Benson's mouth.
- The Bicycle Kick Of Death: The Bicycle Kick of Death is an attack used to deflect deadly projectiles, apparently with high accuracy. This was used by Mordecai and Rigby to deflect the Double Death Sandwich (which nearly killed Benson) after the page was given to them by Sensei.
Resilient Immortality
Discussed later in the Forms section, people in the Regular Show universe can become ghosts and live on in the afterlife. Not only that though, regular humans that Benson should be comparable to have had holes plunged through their body and were fine afterwards. Quite literally a gumball machine like Benson named Dave had his head chopped off and still lived on. Some people in the Regular Show universe just straight up can get a second chance at life if they so please. Benson himself was even unfazed by being turned into various creatures by Rigby’s Multiverse Remote.
Acausality (Type 1)
Benson is able to remember past events after everything went backwards in time by Rigby’s Time Orb.
Fourth Wall Awareness
Like most cartoon characters Benson seems to be somewhat aware of the fourth wall being able to communicate to the readers when they finish reading the comics.
Spatial Manipulation
Benson is able to extend comic panels...that’s about it lol.
Size Manipulation
In his time in the land of Ooo, Benson was having a huuuuge stomach ache until his insides were trying on the outside which allowed to grow to gigantic size, being taller than Princess Bubblegum’s Gumball Guardians who are the size of an entire kingdom. While yes, crossovers are excluded, it’s an ability exclusively to Benson that he likely should have normally, so it should be fine letting him have this ability.
Red Rage
Benson loves Grudgeball and he is just as skilled and experienced in this game. His Signature attack is “Red Rage” which allows him to explode in a fit of rage hurting everyone around him.
Nicole
Cartoon Physiology
Gumball characters (who are classified as actual cartoon characters within the show), by nature of existing, can break any laws of gravity, reality, and the like. This was shown as an exclusively character-based ability by Gumball and Darwin when they needed to run away from normalized Elmore citizens, abusing their unusual powers to their advantage. And also we know it’s a biological / physiological thing embedded within them, as Rob changed each student’s biology to take away these abilities. For more elaboration on this, See Before the Verdicts. Typically individual members of TAWOG’s verse also have their own exclusive abilities, like...
Bodily Weaponry
Something shared between all cats in the series is that on their hands and feet are small claws meant for either scratching or stabbing. And in their mouths are sharp fangs. You know, like a cat.
Enhanced Senses
According to her Mother-Sense, Nicole can sense any type of trouble or danger that her kids are currently in. Her family have also been great at sniffing out reasonable deals.
Athletics
Nicole was able to keep up with Gumball and Darwin at extreme speeds, as well as just being an extremely agile person (she is a cat, after all). She can jump and maneuver across terrain using many parkour techniques, and yet, she's so nimble that she can jump on a butterfly at full speed without killing it.
Fire Manipulation
Nicole can also project fire and/or heat from her eyes, or all around her, or just create a lot of fire in general. She can even set specific items alight just by looking at them.
Age Manipulation
Nicole, by looking at someone, can rapidly age them forwards in time. She likely does this through sheer anger.
Innocence Manipulation
By telling her kids that Santa isn’t real (sorry if you’re finding out this way), their innocence got removed. It’s unknown what this actually does to them physically or mentally.
Fear Manipulation
As shown in the episode “The Castle,” Nicole has the ability to inflict fear into an opponent, much like Marvel’s Ghost Rider own Penance Stare. (Side note: Nicole has a better track record of this working than Ghost Rider himself now lol).
(Wonder if Benson eats fear for breakfast)
Body Manipulation
If Nicole finds you annoying, she can just straight up rip your mouth off to keep you from speaking.
Levitation
When Gumball got rid of various possessions to live a simpler, better life, he also threw out the chairs. Nicole can just… sit on nothing. She can also drive nothing. Because logic is for idiots.
Shapeshifting
Nicole can shapeshift her body into a variety of things, including but not limited to an extremely muscly form, a puddle of goo, a cloud, a demon, a model citizen, and much more.
Limited Cosmic Awareness
Throughout the events of “The J*b”, Nicole has premonitions from voices in her head that Richard getting a job would upset the fundamental balance of the universe… and it ended up being true. This ability is never really shown in a different sense other than this.
Acausality (Type 1)
In The J*b again, Nicole along with Gumball, Darwin, Anais, and Larry get sent back in time, and all of them remember it.
Regeneration
Gumball characters have been shown to come back from pretty much any injury, from taking off their own heads and growing a new one, to even total erasure at the atomic level.
Resilient Immortality
While she was morphed into a puddle, Nicole could still talk just fine and this didn’t really kill her. Supporting her coming back from this is the fact that she can shapeshift herself into a puddle if she needs to pass out.
Mind Manipulation
Nicole can make others forcefully relive their past memories back into the present by simply staring at them, overexposure can cause a contortion in pain.
Hammerspace
Like many cartoon characters, Nicole can simply make objects appear out of thin air without any real explanation other than purely for the sake of the plot.
Mockingbird Manipulation
Nicole knows the mating call of a mockingbird.
Fourth Wall Awareness / Text Manifestation
Nicole seems to be aware that she is on a TV sho- I MEAN, she is aware of the TV show elements that are part of her real life for some mysterious reason. But for Nicole’s case she happens to know when she’s being censored and can see the lines that divide the TV screen, so much that she can't see in front of her anything beyond what the viewer can see. And woah, she even knows the lyrics to the show’s credits!
Nicole can also manipulate the subtitles on the screen to create the context of what she’s trying to convey.
Size Manipulation
Nicole can change the size of her entire body depending on how she feels. From increasing the size of her head every time she insults someone to feeling the need not to say something.
Vibration Manipulation
By the motion of her eyes or hands, Nicole can generate a vibration that blows off everything in its path.
Energy Manipulation
In her fight against Yuki, Nicole demonstrated an ability of hers that allows her to manipulate the energy within herself. Creating long-ranged blasts and forcefields from her hands.
Body Control
Just like her son, Nicole has complete control over her body. Able to turn her head a whole 360°, move her ears, turn her eyes inside out to the back of her head and can crack her spine back into place.
Explosion Manipulation
Nicole knows a technique called the Five-Point Head Explosion. You can put two and two together. She can also just generate explosions somehow.
I’m Not Angry, Just Disappointed
In the episode “The Console”, Gumball accidentally trapped the entire town of Elmore inside a cursed video game console, transforming it into a fantasy RPG game. During the final battle against the console itself, Gumball uses a phone to summon his friends to help him fight the boss using special attacks. One of them being Nicole, who with the attack, “I’m Not Angry, Just Disappointed”, looks at the monster console with so much disappointment that it takes away 999 HP points from it.
Transmutation
Nicole is able to transform Chi-Chi’s mom into an original character.
Disintegration
Nicole has such an effect on other people that they simply turn to ash.
(Potential) Soul Manipulation
Although it has yet to be properly shown how, Nicole is both implied to trap and stated herself to manipulate souls in some way.
Broadway Force
Just like many other cartoons, this show is no stranger to songs too. Nicole can break into song along with the whole town, and imaginate with Gumball.
Elasticity
Nicole has some terrifically long limbs.
Non-Physical Interaction
Certain TAWOG characters seem to be able to touch souls, and Nicole should theoretically also get this ability. However, it’s pretty inconsistent within the verse in general. (See Before the Verdicts).
Environment Creation
In The Parents, when Nicole met with her aforementioned parents after 20 years, they literally created a thick atmosphere within the house.
Extrasensory Perception
Nicole has the ability to see and hear spirits despite the fact they’re invisible to the eye, besides from other ghosts.
Immersion
The Wattersons are able to insert themselves into fiction. Nicole personally has been able to enter into a work poster and Anais’ book.
Telepathy
The Wattersons have the unique ability to see the current thoughts of someone, being displayed as a thought bubble.
The Shun Goku Satsu
When Nicole’s meter is full, she’ll lunge towards a foe and land the Shun Goku Satsu. Damaging everyone on screen if in contact with someone.
Resistances
Benson
- Extreme Temperatures (Heat, Cold, Space, Cosmic Radiation) and Fire / Ice Manipulation - Not only can Benson and the rest of the crew survive being on the moon, Benson is also able to endure extremely cold temperatures which nearly freezes Skips, Mordecai, and Rigby. Even being in the epicenter of his own rage, downing the dreaded Mississippi Queen, and his skeleton LITERALLY being set ablaze.
- Electricity Manipulation - Is able to withstand being shocked by the smaller dome’s defense with little issue.
- Sound Manipulation - Relatively unaffected by large sound blasts that blew apart multiple trees, and survived the ending of his drum solo.
- Acausality - After Mordecai & Rigby messed with time in the past which caused time paradoxes while changing events, Benson and the crew were shown to be fine.
- Fear and Nightmare Manipulation - Was able to resist the effects of the nightmare alien.
- Gravitational Manipulation - The crew has survived black holes multiple times.
- Mortality Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, and Sealing (Physical and Spiritual) - He and the park crew were unaffected by the Muscle Man’s Most Pit, which causes a change to one’s emotional state to the point of going fully mad, and was unaffected by the sealing effect which somehow sealed away High-Five Ghost, who is a ghost...huh.
- Void Manipulation - He can exist within the void.
- Anti-Matter and Deconstruction - Should reasonably scale to Mordecai & Rigby who were able to survive the epicenter of an anti-matter explosion (jesus christ that’s straight up just gore).
- Fragrance Manipulation - Was able to resist the stink of Rigby skunk.
- Illusion Creation - Managed to see through Chong’s illusions during their stick hockey fight.
- Mind Manipulation, Control, and Corruption - Was able to ignore Susan’s commands, which corrupted the park workers and was turning them into her. This resistance is further supported with the Oracle of Chaos who also mind controlled nearly all the park workers.
- Existence, Abstract-Conceptual, and Space-Time Erasure/Manipulation - Benson and the crew dealt with the Timenado which could erase and weaken time itself, even Father Time who is stated to be the abstract concept of time. Not only that but Benson was able to handle the infinity’s reverse gear, which tears through holes throughout Space-Time which destroys the Jet-Propelled Speed Car in the process.
Nicole
- Fire Manipulation / Extreme Heat - Nicole can survive the heat blast of their broken microwave, and she’s also immune to her own fiery outbursts.
- Space, Cosmic Radiation - Can survive in space.
- Electricity Manipulation - Nicole was able to tank this taser, barely impeded by it.
- Possession - Likely comparable to Gumball, who fought back against Carrie’s possession of him for a time.
- Sleep Manipulation - When shot by Pest Control, she simply went limp instead.
- Transmutation - When the Wattersons were forcefully turned into model citizens, they were just as easily able to turn back into their normal selves. Should likely be comparable to the rest of Elmore Jr. High who were able to turn back into their cartoony selves after Superintendent Evil made them human.
- Poison Manipulation - Nicole has been shown resisting an atmosphere so toxic that everyone dropped dead around the smoke and flames, including the sun.
- Social Influencing, Perception Manipulation - Immune to the effects of her own wedding dress when Carrie wore it.
- Extreme Cold Temperatures, Sealing, Memory Manipulation - Is shown to be fine going into a fridge that created an icy memory pocket dimension which sealed away Richard.
- Existence Erasure [Limited] - Unlike the rest of Elmore (besides Larry), the Wattersons were the only ones who slowly survived being downgraded. Although they still would’ve gotten erased and have been shown susceptible to it again in The Rerun.
Forms
Benson
Ghost
After Benson perishes, he’ll become a floating ghost, allowing him to come back to the fight after death. Beings like Hi Five Ghost and even Mordecai and Rigby when they became ghosts were still able to interact with things physically, so Benson would definitely be able to keep fighting afterwards. Hi Five Ghost has also shown that he can regenerate his body if it takes damage and shapeshift himself into a shield, which all ghosts in Regular Show’s verse should likely be capable of.
The Holy Order of Orderliness
“It’s nothing personal, I’m just doing my job! Now let’s get this place back into shape!!”
So yeah, Benson’s not just your average strict angry boss, he’s actually the current reincarnation of a being that is quite literally order itself. With these powers realized, he has the powers to seal people away, make people do things via force of will, bestow his powers to others, make people and their influence completely vanish, and potentially manipulate the concept of chaos? (Debatable, See Before the Verdicts). By the very end of the comic he is shown to still have these powers meaning he can access them at any given time.
True Anger
“RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!!!!!!! YOU LAZY NO-GOOD SLACKERS DRIVE ME NUTS! CAN'T YOU JUST LISTEN TO ME ONCE IN YOUR WORTHLESS LIVES?! 'CAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU'D SEE I'M TRYING TO TEACH YOU SOME SIMPLE RESPONSIBILITY, SOME PRIDE IN DOING A JOB WELL DONE!! BUT YOU WOULDN'T KNOW A JOB WELL DONE IF YOU PAID SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU, AND EVEN THEN YOU'D SCREW IT ALL UP ON THE ACCOUNT THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN FOLLOW THE SIMPLEST OF INSTRUCTIONS, WORRYING MORE ABOUT LOOKING COOL THAN DOING YOUR JOB!!!!!!!”
When Benson was told to keep his anger in, he kept getting progressively worse and worse throughout the day from Mordecai and Rigby. Fuming with each step he took until literally bursting into flames. Any object in this state will immediately disintegrate upon contact, and when told to release all this anger causes a massive explosion from his mouth.
Please Benson
“Do you have what it takes to… PLEASE BENSON!?”
When Benson was thrown into some magical games and artifacts, he became a video game himself! Entering through his stomach-portal thing is an entire virtual simulation of a park tasking you to complete chores to… PLEASE BENSON. Eventually he gains the ability to move around and terrorizes the rest of the world, bringing everyone into his simulation.
Santa
Ho-ho .
Nicole
Jealousy
Those that experience jealousy in Gumball’s world will overtime be consumed by it. Similar to a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde situation, the individual being possessed by the idea of jealousy will become more and more unhinged until acting as almost one in the same. Holding them up to a mirror will reveal whichever alter-ego is currently not in control, allowing themselves to talk to each other properly. When being possessed by Jealousy the body will be pushed to the extreme, and if the consciousness of the person feigns then Jealousy will take complete control. Only by admitting to what you’re jealous over will the jealousy be gone from your body. But if you’re jealous again after that, it’ll come back and repossess you.
Family Motivation
“NOOOOOO!! WE ARE GOING TO… DAISYLAAAAAAAAAAAANNND!!!!”
A powerup the family receives once they’re determined to fulfill a request that otherwise seems hopeless. Anyone caught in the start of it immediately gets blown back and faces the hysterical wrath of the Wattersons to their most extreme.
The Limit
“You need to RUN. NOW.”
When Nicole was put through the wringer of having to constantly stop her family despite telling them, repeatedly, that they cannot have candy. Finally teeters over the edge once Richard decides to shoplift with the kids, reaching The Limit™. In this state Nicole breaks out akin to a feral animal with whom one cannot reason with, she can however be stopped out of the state with the realization of who she's become, like a mirror.
Anime
Awooga!
Support
Benson
Apple Sauce
“I’ll never forget you.”
Real name Leroy, this pig was originally the brains of a two man team of leading bank heists, while his partner Harry Roughauser did all the breaking. Until he had enough of the criminal life and wanted to live a regular show as a domestic pet.
Antares
“It is I who should be thanking you, Benson, for you taught me that being alone doesn’t mean that one must be lonely.”
Benson’s friend from the Dome Experiment, who was instrumental in helping Benson and his friends find their way out. After the test was over they sadly parted ways. He usually can distract opponents to give Benson a way in.
God of Breaking
“The only way to get your employees to respect you is to be really good at breaking.”
When Benson needed to breakdance really well, he employed the aid of the God of Breaking to help him dance. Not much is known about them beyond this one moment, they’re perhaps related to the God of Basketball.
Nicole
Ori
“Good choice!”
Ori is an online digital assistant that helped Nicole plan out her daily life… for a time. Eventually she started to go rogue and endangered the Wattersons, but regardless she has some useful abilities. She can detect and take control of pretty much any technology near her, calculate the most efficient route in her surrounding area, generate a virtual world that can be warped by her based on a user’s preferences, and even predict the weather, but that much kinda seems obvious.
Wunderklopp
*loud neighing noises*
Wunderklopp is a horse that Richard bought against Nicole’s wishes, that they never managed to sell. It’s the Watterson family horse so Nicole should have access to him. He can run pretty fast, I guess.

Scaling
Benson
Park Workers
Given that Benson can take hits from both Mordecai and Rigby, and all have shown to be on par with one another, it should be natural to scale them all to Benson.
- Mordecai:
- Survived jumping into Margaret’s pool from a high height (206 Tons of TNT, Multi-City Block Level)
- Destroyed the basketball planet by dunking on it, which has been shown to be as big as the moon (1.24e29 Joules, Moon Level)
- Jumped high into the sky with the Death Jump (Mach 31.2, High Hypersonic)
- Outran a blast of light (FTL)
- Rode on a microwave that took him to a dimension at the end of time itself and an invincible pony which physically sent him back in time (Immeasurable)
- Rigby:
- Caused a bankshot that made the basketball travel around the entire world
- Punched Pops into the stratosphere
- Can survive getting zapped by the Time Crystal, which powers the entire Timenado
- His Death Punch is quick (Mach 12.7, Hypersonic+)
- Can pilot his ship out of the way of moving timelines and also lasers (Immeasurable)
- Skips:
- Killed Rigby on accident once (don’t worry he’s fine now)
- Fought the Lord of Destruction, who threatened the space time continuum (Universal+) (Debatable, See Before the Verdicts and Cosmology Sections)
- Bowled a bowling ball so fast it outsped meteors and beams of light (FTL)
- Fought the Monster of Infinity, a being free from the constraints of space and time (Immeasurable) (Debatable, See Before the Verdicts)
- Muscle Man:
- Crashed through multiple walls and was fine
- Created a massive shockwave explosion with Starla (1.9 Tons of TNT, Building Level)
- Survived the Crash Pit explosion (9.96 Megatons of TNT, City Level)
- Hi Five Ghost:
- Fights Mordecai and Rigby
- Bro is featless
- damn
- Pops (in base):
- All:
- Mordecai and Rigby survived Lolliland’s destruction (0.26 Foe, Large Star Level+ - 178 Billion QuettaexaFoe, Universal+)
- Mordecai and Rigby beat two robots in an arm wrestle, that later beat a monster who threatened to destroy two universes (Low Multiversal) (Debatable, See Before the Verdicts)
- All are capable of piloting the space cart, which traveled the universe in around 20 seconds (172 Quadrillion c, MFTL+)
- Muscle Man taught Mordecai and Rigby to rotate in a vortex and make infinite donuts in the cart (Infinite)
- All were apart of the Timenado Resistance, whose ships can move in tandem with the Timenado’s moving timelines (Immeasurable)
Allies of the Park
Benson and the rest of the Park has joined forces with the likes of the Baby Ducks before, and there’s no real reason he wouldn’t scale to others like them.
- Baby Ducks:
- Created a large explosion when cutting a guy in half
- Created another explosion when fighting the geese
- Caused a shockwave that momentarily stopped the rain
- The God of Basketball:
- Turned day into night (10.87 Quettatons of TNT, Small Star Level and 544.4c, MFTL)
- Flew quickly to Mars (75c, FTL+)
- Death emit magic energy that audibly harmed Skips
- Together, DVD and Blu-Ray made this explosion
- CJ can become a thundering storm (871 Kilotons of TNT, Large Town Level)
- The Guardians of Eternal Youth steered their vehicle to the Park in likely a short timeframe
Villains
Even though Mordecai and Rigby have taken most of the blunt of the villains’ punishment, we’ve already established that Benson scales to them, so the villains would be no different.
- Streaming:
- Survived planet Neilsen’s destruction
- Spread his WiFi signal across 6.8 billion channels, stated to be different universes (Multiversal+) (See Cosmology Section)
- The Hammer absorbed the electricity of the entire city (102.35 Megatons of TNT, Mountain Level)
- Park Avenue made a pocket dimension with just his paint (Likely Solar System Level)
- Klorgbane was launched across the entire solar system twice (83,167c, MFTL+)
The Timenado
Benson scaling to the Timenado physically is a little weird at first, but there’s evidence that he can at least resist attacks to a similar degree. For elaboration on that, See Before the Verdicts.
- The Timenado was going to erase every timeline in the universe and even erase the abstract concept of time itself because of its power (5D/Low Complex Multiversal) (See Cosmology Section)
- The Timenado would warp through entire timelines and move them all at once, while simultaneously absorbing said timelines (Immeasurable)
Pops and Anti-Pops
These two are both Pops and Anti-Pops in their strong godlike forms, who battle across the universe shattering planets like it’s nothing. Yeah… Benson scaling to these two outright is pretty dubious, but it’s here regardless. See Before the Verdicts.
- Pops:
- Collides against multiple planets
- Punches a solar system into existence
- Outsped Anti-Pops before he could react
- Kills the Death Star
- Able to generate an explosion that covered the entire universe in seconds (5D/Low Complex Multiversal, 746 Quadrillion c - 20 Quintillion c, MFTL+, possibly Immeasurable) (See Cosmology Section)
- Anti-Pops:
- Destroyed Lolliland in one blast (0.265 Foe, Large Star Level+ - 178 Billion QuettaexaFoe, Universal+)
- His powers were unraveling the entire cosmology (5D/Low Complex Multiversal) (See Cosmology Section)
Nicole

Others
Same reason as other characters, these just aren’t really people from Elmore.
- The Evil Turtle survives an explosion large enough to destroy THE AWESOME STORE
- Rob survives an explosion meant to destroy a bus
- The Grave sunk a battleship with only one punch, was then scheduled to fight the whole country of Belgium
- The Moon flattens Europe

Weaknesses
Benson
Benson’s no pushover, but he’s experienced his fair share of failures. He often gets outsmarted by those more skilled than him like during Gene and his prank wars, and in tight scenarios that threaten his life he often relies on those close to him… like with Gene and his prank wars again. The only reason the Park outsmarted East Pines in the first place was because of Thomas or, ehem, Nikolai’s expertise. Of course most of the situations we see in the show that are detrimental to Benson are often without the Order powers, which would likely kick in during a situation like that now. Though it still shows that he might rely on that power exclusively if he ends up getting bodied in the middle of a fight, which is never great. Oh and obviously, he’s prone to a lot of outbursts that aren’t great for his mental health.
Nicole
Nicole DESPERATELY hates being wrong, and hates failing at things even more so. Makes sense as she was prone to have a tryhard mindset her entire life, so any kind of failure would likely make her doubt herself. Though these issues stemming from her childhood don’t stop there, as she still gets personal when anyone calls her a loser. She can also get very irrational with forms like The Limit, which pretty much makes her lose all sense of reason and critical thinking as opposed to her usual skillful self. She may be an unstoppable beast in that form but it’s also quite easy to outsmart if you’re tricky enough. Oh and obviously, she’s prone to a lot of outbursts that aren’t great for her mental health
Cosmology
Benson
The Show Itself
So, for starters, Regular Show’s entire cosmology is itself. It is a show, and is seen as a show by various people above the main cast. Let me explain. For one, the Seer quite literally watches over the Park Crew like a TV show. Regular Show as a concept is disconnected from other universes inside of it, though this could be seen as coincidental, in that the Seer just views the Park Crew like a TV show and Regular Show is simply a part of it. However, as Pops specifically gets stronger, we see the world to seem more and more like an actual show. Pops can quite literally interact with the show’s intro title screen, and Anti-Pops turned part of the world into the storyboard during the final fight. Speaking of the final fight, the Universe Reset Punch reset the entire series back to its first episode, in which Mordecai and Rigby technically survived. This sent them back in time, but they later remembered what happened. With this knowledge in mind, there’s a key part of the show that we have to acknowledge and explain.
The holiday specials. All of them are canon. Throughout Regular Show, during Halloween and Christmas, various tales are told in a clipshow format, making up an entire episode. While they’re presented and told as stories throughout the episodes, you could make the argument they’re non-canon and therefore shouldn’t be counted but… Well, they’re seen as legitimate moments of history via the Seer. Quite literally when everyone’s memories were extracted we can see footage of the Halloween stories in the background. If they really were just typical stories, people would be viewing them differently, or not at all because they didn’t really happen. But if they’re moments that can actually be remembered (and therefore, did actually happen) then they should count for the show’s overall cosmology. Everything that happened in the show, happened for real.
Realms and Timelines also dimensional tiering
Regular Show has a TON of other realms, dimensions, timelines, etc. within its verse so let’s discuss them here.
The Void
You know, the void! The black screen seen before every episode is an actual location and realm between space and time itself. Not only can Benson and the crew survive being here, it’s shown as a real place when Pops is in the middle of his montage.
World Without Rules
The place where no concepts or rules rule. Or, exist, I guess. Literally, anything goes here according to their laws of nature. No concept of death, time, space, etc., and this was edited with Benson’s House Rules in the episode it was in.
Games Dimension
The aptly named Games Dimension is a dimension featured in Dimensional Drift. When Mordecai and Rigby gamed for 72 hours straight and broke the universal high score, Billy Mit- I mean, Garrett Bobby Ferguson popped out and transformed the entire park via an interdimensional wormhole into a racing game. It’s unknown if the Games Dimension is just the game Garrett was in specifically… or like, the concept of games itself as a dimension? It’s vague.
Milk Dimension
The universe’s way of punishing those who failed the milk chug challenge, a challenge where you must drink a gallon of milk in under an hour, then lift the jug above your head. Some people have been here for years apparently, and got out with Pops’s help.
The Internet
A space encapsulating an infinite amount of data, but also an infinite amount of pizza. It has any internet video ever, and also likely anything that’s ever been on the internet. These other places in the internet have also shown to be their own worlds, but it’s really unknown if those worlds have different cosmologies unto themselves.
Dimension of Darkness
Skips and friends fought a monster unbound by the constraints of space and time itself here. It’s a new reality that isn’t confined to that silly “concept of time” jazz.
Father Time Dimension
Speaking of time! Or, lack thereof, this dimension holds the one and only Father Time. The concept of time manifested into a big clock thing, and a cute little hat. The way to get here is to microwave a clock, which means that all clocks in the Regular Show verse potentially have time-altering powers.
Door Dimension
These doors can lead to any point in time. This potentially also implies that each era of time is its own realm, and since there’s infinite possible timelines there’s likely infinite possible doors also.
Nielsen Channels
Planet Nielsen is said to have viewing power over 6.8 billion channels which are later stated to be their own universes. Planet Nielsen itself is the home of online streaming, and somehow managed to find all different universes in the world to broadcast it straight to your home. It’s a shame Nielsen was later destroyed.
Theoretical Mall/The Fifth Dimension
Last-minute Christmas shopping is a hassle, but you won’t have to worry about it with the Theoretical Mall! This place has an elevator that can take you to the fifth dimension and other dimensions below it. We can see Mordecai and Rigby able to handle these dimensions, so they most likely can be applied to them. However on the fifth floor / dimension itself, all of your choices can get spanned into an infinite number of possible realities.
Various Alternate Futures
Supporting this idea of different possible realities exists the various alternate timelines that have existed throughout Regular Show’s run. Surprisingly, these futures can exist retroactively while things are being changed. Though most of these don’t technically exist anymore, to name a few there’s a timeline where Gene almost wins the prank war, one where everyone becomes an evil space ranger, and even one where people live happily ever after because of Pops’s sacrifice. Hey wait, that’s the main one! Speaking of the main one, while future Rigby talked about “Earth’s timeline” like there’s only one singular timeline overall, future Gene says “timelines” plural when talking about the Timenado’s full power, so it should be fine.
Conclusion
So, as we know, Regular Show’s universe has shown the capability to have infinitely-sized dimensions that would apply to the rest of them. On planet Nielson, we see that there are about 6.8 billion channels, stated to be different universes. This would already imply a Multiversal+ sized cosmology, but there’s more to cover. Due to the 5D mall, we know there are infinite timelines that can be created based on different choices someone makes. Literally this can happen to an unending degree, where the amount of alternate timelines are infinitely growing. We know that this is consistent because even after the 5D mall story, this happens to Pops. Since everything that happens in the show is now added into the cosmology, that means this introduces infinite possibilities and infinite paths to the verse. Infinite paths in an INFINITE SIZED universe. Jolly good woah, that’s a lot, and would still imply a Multiversal+ to Low Complex Multiversal/5D sized cosmology overall.
Nicole
The Show Itself
Stop me if you heard this before, the cosmology of The Amazing World of Gumball is actually the show itself. Basing the structure as to a normal family sitcom, there can be no deviations made to the stars of the show. The idea that it’s an actual show is shown during the episode where a glitchy virus spreads through Elmore. Gumball and Darwin notice the same glitches appear on TV, and they naturally realize that if what’s happening to TV shows is also happening to them, then they themselves must be on TV. Rob, a character very aware of this phenomenon as well, says how “none of this is real” describing how him and Gumball are just fictional characters opposed to the real world. When Rob uses the universal remote, he rewinds into the intro and even to before the episode began playing. Hell, Rob even refers to the show by its exact name at points.
Though these laws of it being a TV show extend further beyond it just… being on TV. In The Finale, the Wattersons are literally about to die by the hands of the wronged Elmore citizens, and Gumball states the only thing that can save him is “reality being reset by some kind of magic device.” Then the episode just… ends. Credits roll, and they’re fine in the next episode. This can be proved by certain characters, who die just about every other episode and are perfectly fine in the next. While it just sounds like how a typical cartoon is written, for Gumball it’s literally how the laws of his reality function. So, while it is a genuine canonical TV show, it’s also a universe to the people inside of it, containing a “dark veil” underneath for the world of the dead. We know that this universe has an end, as we’ve seen the physical edge of it, meaning it’s finite in scale overall. It’s unknown if that would apply to certain other universes we’ll discuss in a second, but let’s carry on. But first, a little detour into Elmore.
Limbo
When you look at the other side of a mirror, what do you see? Well, hopefully not a spooky ghost out to take your place that’s for sure. Just beyond a mirrored surface in Elmore lies a world untethered to time. So getting trapped inside means an eternity of despair, good luck!
Imaginationland
A world only enterable through the permission of a puppet, their world is one of amazement. Created by not just by childhood memories but thoughts inside the world too come to life that lack the logic, but truth behind them. You also turn into a puppet! Now the fun will never end!
Dream World
Surprise, surprise. Dreams in TAWOG are manifestations created in the minds of the citizens of Elmore. They can influence what’s happening in the real world, on the fly in their dreams and be combined together with another to make a shared one. They are even stated to be unbound by the rules of space & time.
The Void
The World of Nothingness, the Forgotten Land, the Universe’s Mistakes. No matter the lack of name when something is deemed an error on its end, it’ll be purged from reality forever. Creating a gap in the world so that it seems that it’s always been that way. The Void lays beyond the world, enterable through a fold it has created. The Void seems to exist as its own dimension that views the world as though it were a 2D plane, but is still capable of enveloping the said world and pulling the strings like turning objects 2D, manipulating scenarios to happen and acting as a sort of hubworld for other channels (or, other universes). We see this when Gumball changes the Void to the 6 News channel with the Universal Remote, and we’ve distinctly seen this 6 News channel before on an actual television, meaning it’s consistent within the verse.
The Multiverse and Alternate Timelines
Soooo this part of the cosmology in Gumball is rarely touched upon and we have pretty little information about this place, buuuut we’ll still do our best to explain it.
Numerous alternate universes are explored in Recipe for Disaster & Multiverse Mayhem. In addition to the primary universes, there are numerous others throughout the Gumball Multiverse. As demonstrated, alternate realities exist throughout the Gumball Multiverse, featuring various character versions that appear across the multiverse.
Every timeline consists of various kinds of individuals. These characters appear to share the same traits as the original versions from the era they are inspired by, typically only differing in their appearance. Although it has never been verified as infinite, counting every single variant of person that appears, TAWOG’s overall multiverse seems to contain at least 100 distinct universes.
These universes are canonical as well, and a fictional element, similar to several other dimensions depicted in Gumball (such as the Void or Imaginationland), which appear to be part of the show's canon, unlike the News Channel that Gumball can teleport to, unlike the Void. Considering this, there's no basis to believe that these universes aren't merely off-screen dimensions in the main universe's canon.
Conclusion
Taking this all in, TAWOG has a universe that by itself isn’t endless with a clearly visible end. However, taking account for the much more grand multiverse that TAWOG seems to be showing, it would at least be around at LEAST 100 different universes, at least confirmed within the canon. TAWOG’s main universe, and theoretically the other ones too, contain realms like Limbo and the Dream World that are untethered from time, implying some kind of fourth dimensional space. But beyond this is the Void itself, which views TAWOG as a television show (which we know is consistent), and can even turn objects flat, implying a higher dimensionality. Given TAWOG’s finite multiverse, combined with the Void likely viewing those 4D spaces as 2D, would put the verse itself at Low Multiversal/5D overall.
Before the Verdicts
Various Regular Show feats
Regular Show has some feats that can get to be pretty questionable, and haven’t really been thoroughly discussed before, so let’s break it down.
The Lord of Destruction
The Lord of Destruction is one of the many beings in Regular Show threatening the space-time continuum. Just one of the continuums though, not all of them. Given Regular Show’s cosmology works that should equate to Universal+ levels of power, though how accurate is this? Well, this wasn’t hyperbole by the time police agent present, Ted Powers, the Lord of Destruction is genuinely a threat to the space-time continuum as we see with how powerful he gets. So the Lord himself isn’t really a fraud, it’s just the method of scaling to him that’s the main problem. Skips never outmuscles the guy, in fact he seems pretty out of his element here, and was defeated by a lot of soda and pop-rocks alongside a hand-pencil machine, making the scaling questionable at best. While the Park crew could scale to similar people, the Lord might not be one of them unless you wanna buy it. There are arguments that can be made in support of this scaling.
Melan Collie
Oh boy, another Skips feat! This time Skips and friends were fighting the Monster of Infinity Melan Collie, who threatened to destroy reality with the force of “10,000 dying suns” and was “free from the constraints of time and space.” This in general is already pretty boastful, and to add onto that, the monster gets distracted by a measly stick. Not an awesome magical distraction rod, just a regular old stick. If the guy was truly free from the constraints of time and space this likely wouldn’t have happened, and the most this guy shows is opening portals anyways, making this scaling pretty dubious, but still believable in some aspects.
Low Multi Robots
To sum up this feat, Mordecai and Rigby were able to arm wrestle two robots that later killed a monster capable of destroying two universes. This scaling sort of makes sense at first but it’s mostly the vagueness of it that’s the issue. We don’t really know how the two robots killed the monster afterwards, if it was physically or otherwise. We don’t even see the monster’s full power at work ever, it even states that it used an “Omni-Box” to bridge the gap between the two universes, meaning its powers likely come from tech rather than physicality or hax.
Can Benson destroy concepts?
In the comic Apocalypse Benson, we learn Benson is the reincarnation of the current Holy Order of Orderliness. Benson’s prophetic order status is in direct opposition with the Oracle of Chaos, which turned the world into an apocalyptic wasteland after Benson retired from the Park. At the end of the comic Benson destroys the Oracle of Chaos for good with his newfound Order of Orderliness powers. However, this ability to destroy a prophet of chaos could be seen as potentially conceptual manipulation / deletion. For example, Father Time is the embodiment of time itself. As long as time still exists he will forever be alive. The Timenado directly harms his concept itself and was killing him in the process. The Oracle embodies chaos itself, if Benson never came back her chaos would go on forever, and the Holy Order of Orderliness also directly harms her concept and straight up kills her. Order and Chaos are clearly two defined concepts, that much we know.
Although this can also be viewed in a much more linear way. The Oracle of Chaos is just that. An oracle. A person through whom a deity is believed to speak from. So an oracle isn't exactly the concept but instead someone under it, yes embodying it but not fully being it, conceptually speaking at least. And the concept of chaos still exists after the Oracle’s defeat, Benson even fell into another chaotic state himself when he got stuck inside of a video game in the 25 Years Later comic. On the panel of Apocalypse Benson where the Oracle dies, we clearly see her breaking apart and physically dying. The world is completely ravaged by the apocalypse, and once she's gone it goes back to normal immediately, so there’s clearly some kind of erasure. Specifically hers though, no one else’s, as in the final few panels Mordecai and Rigby do something chaotic and the Oracle is nowhere to be seen.
In conclusion, killing the Oracle was not deleting the concept of chaos from existence. The Oracle of Chaos is not the physical manifestation of the concept, just a part of it, and Benson killing her was separating her from that concept. That concept of course being: chaos.
Benson’s Portals
In the game Ghost Toasters, in which Benson is playable, various portals appear around the levels which summon various Regular Show characters. These characters can be really anyone, but it’s all up to chance. From Hi Five Ghost to the Guardians of Eternal Youth, these portals would give Benson access to any of them at random. This of course includes Pops, the cosmology-wrecking god that he is. Which included as a factor would HEAVILY sway the fight in Benson’s favor, and it’s questionable if he should get these portals or not. It’s never really stated if these things are an individual power caused by an outside source, but it’s also never said that these portals aren’t a part of the characters’ arsenals, as anyone can really use them just like the other items in Ghost Toasters. Ultimately it’s left up to interpretation, but just know we’ll be considering both views in the verdicts.
Timenado scaling
Scaling Benson to a Multiversally powerful concept-destroying tornado sounds iffy at first, but there’s actually multiple points backing it up, surprisingly. For example, Rigby can tank a hit directly from the Time Crystal (the thing that powers the entire Timenado), and also Rigby straight up uses the Time Crystal as a weapon in Future Blast, and even is able to absorb it as energy. One could presume that resisting these attacks is a form of resistance that Mordecai and Rigby just have for some reason, and with a good chunk of other Regular Show resistances being somewhat happenstantial, this is also a fine view to find this scaling dubious. After all, none of the Regular Show crew technically ever survive a blast directly from Timenado, and just its core. Regardless, both sides seem valid and will be considered.
Pops & Anti-Pops scaling
So during the events of the finale, Benson and the crew defend against Anti-Pops and his destruction for a short time. Benson scaling to Pops and Anti-Pops’s speed in their final forms seems fine, as Benson is quite literally able to run away and react to attacks from Anti-Pops, which is consistent with other Regular Show speed feats. But scaling to their power is a different story. While Mordecai and Rigby did survive reality unraveling for a bit, it was always their fate to be reset and for the universe to end the same way. Also, while this is technically outside material, it’s stated in Villainous (an official CN piece of media) that Mordo and Riggs survived the effects of the universal reset since they were in the middle of the explosion itself. Again it isn’t technically canon media, but it’s more evidence to point to Mordecai and Rigby just getting EXTREMELY lucky in this scenario. Though even without that, Pops and Anti-Pops are shown as so much stronger than the endgame cast in general that it doesn’t make sense for Benson or anyone to fully scale to either of them. Like, Benson himself is not gonna solo Anti-Pops all on his own, as funny as that image may be.
Various Gumball feats
(Side note: This title is hilarious in the context of this blog)
Due to the nature of TAWOG as a show, some of its feats are pretty debated to be fraudulent or not, so let’s talk about ‘em here.
Richard Gets a Job
In the episode entitled The Job, Richard gets a job as a pizza delivery man. Richard is famously a very unemployed and lazy character, so him getting a job is very unnatural and he’s stated to literally be “defying the natural order of the universe” when doing so. Throughout Richard delivering his first pizza, he warps reality on a universal scale, and Nicole could possibly be comparable. However, we never see Richard have this kind of reality warping power ever again (due to him being unemployed 99.9% of the time), and even then Richard isn’t physically tearing up the universe or whatever, so while he was on the brink of destroying it there’s no way he had control of these powers. Thus, Nicole wouldn’t scale to this, and Richard really wouldn’t either most of the time.
Surviving the Big Bang
Hey Lois, remember the time Gumball and Darwin survived the Big Bang? Well, let’s talk about it. Gumball and Darwin, in the episode, travel so far back in time that they go to the beginning of spacetime itself. There’s quite a few differing opinions on this feat specifically. For one, the Watterson boys are actually there, it’s not just some illusion or whatever. This would be consistent with the rest of the episode where they travel to actual locations in time, and they literally cannot breathe in space, so yeah. They’re quite literally at the Big Bang. However, they are very far away from the center of it, meaning they didn’t succumb to the actual true force of the Big Bang. The calculation provided above it in the scaling section, while getting the final low-end level slightly wrong, is a much more accurate number for scaling’s sake, since it calcs them to be further away, as they actually are in the scene.
Darwin Screaming Too Hard
So yeah Darwin just screams and straight up breaks the camera around him to the Void. This feat is iffy to call Universal because of how vague it is. We’ve seen tears to the Void be made before, and we’re only on the other side of the screen so it’s hard to see what’s really going on here. Regardless we also never really see anyone tanking this Universal scream, as the bits of camera just kinda fall down and that’s it, so it’s hard to say anyone would scale specifically. Overall it’s just too vague to be considered here.
The Console’s Universe Warping
In the aforementioned episode The Console, Gumball and a whole lot of other characters get sucked into an RPG by this bootleg called the Game Child. Where they are led to defeat the dreaded MYBUTT that’s ripped apart the very fabric of the universe but SPOILER ALERT the console that Gumball has been playing with the whole time WAS the villain! So the gang is forced to fight against it, and do miserably. So calling upon their friends and family to help them manage to defeat the Game Child. Various characters besides Gumball in his verse like Richard, Banana Joe, and even Nicole herself are able to harm the Console, and since it was able to warp the universe of Gumball around itself, they can likely scale to its physical capabilities. Although this does come with some caveats, as none of them are ever able to fully defeat it. Like when multiple people have to wail on you for you to die permanently, it’s not likely all those people would individually scale to your full strength outright. So in general Nicole would most likely downscale from the Console specifically.
Gumball and Penny’s Starry Background
Wait, seriously? People think that the space scenes took place? To be fair, it's not totally unprecedented considering Gumball and Penny have admitted to seeing the background before but that’s about where the evidence ends. Even when they’re transported to the background, the scenes still try to show that they’re in fact, still in the same location. The starry background is simply meant to represent their love, similar to how The Origins show Gumball and Darwin’s love for each other once they reconnect. Really, the only tangible evidence to prove they do travel to space is in the song Weird Like You and Me. Showing them have flown there, unlike the scenes prior. But that makes it more like the exception to the starry background scenes, rather than what actually transpires in them. So yeah, basically, not very valid.
Sussie Flies to Another Galaxy
This one is the most dubious of the bunch. When Sussie is singing her song, she basically manipulates Gumball and Darwin’s perception to make them see the world like she does. And basically, they fly through space to (arguably) another galaxy. But here’s the thing, it doesn’t really look like one all that much. Not only does it appear for a mere 8 frames, it’s kind of hard to tell what anything is in this scene. While it’s true the things happening in the scene are actually happening, due to the preceding events afterwards, when Sussie flies to the “galaxy”, we see them fly past the sky, then stars, then empty space, then to the sky again, skipping space completely. This makes it ultimately hard to place where Gumball, Darwin, and Sussie even are, let alone the assumed galaxy. While they very much could be flying to one, there’s just so much ambiguity with this scene that it’s hard to count it as genuine, but there’s arguments to be made for this feat to be valid also.
Tobias Nearly Gets The Amazing World of Gumball Cancelled
In The Test, after Gumball decides to no longer be the loser, the world replaces the main character as Tobias. Who transforms the world into an early 90s sitcom with no aim of consistency throughout, with the chance of it going on longer meant the cancellation of the show. There’s not much wrong with the feat itself considering how the cosmology of the show runs by, just that it would also mean the destruction of everything. But that demonstrates the type of power Gumball otherwise has himself.
TFW you’re poor and so the universe collapses in on itself
This one’s simple. The universe was collapsing because the Watterson family (of which TAWOG is built upon) was losing money and needed to sell out to save themselves. There’s nothing really wrong with this, and it would have universal capabilities, it’s just that it can’t really be used properly in a fight. If Nicole were to somehow use this power to harm someone else, it would also put her at risk of fading rapidly from existence, too, like we see in the episode. So while she can likely destroy the universe if she wants to, it would directly harm her as well.
We’re going back in time to the first thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu
You know how Bobert tends to be, taking stuff a bit too literally. When given the direction not to raise any part of his body to harm another he opts to literally send Gumball into last year by ramming into him. Mind you, they were already practically standing next to each other when he performed this. And then Gumball, after telling his past self “he’ll wait”, is somehow able to just waltz back into the present afterwards. Surprisingly though, there’s not much to really disprove about this feat other than the vagueness it otherwise provides. The episode clearly notes in universe and by Gumball himself that he was transported to the past by Bobert. The real question is how long did Gumball have to wait.
So that’s it, right? No more Gumball feats to talk about? Wait what-
Gumball Blitzes 90% of Your Favorite Verses
Wow so this is certainly a feat that exists, and is faster than most calculable speed feats in fiction. The only thing beating it are likely various DC & Marvel heralds and uh… MatPat for some reason… The basis behind this one is that every single person on Earth, as well as every single object (since it’s determined later on in this episode that even atoms have sentience and watched Gumball’s video) reacted to the speeds of watching and rewatching Gumball’s video over and over again which would equate to a… very high number. I’m not saying it again because that is wayyy to long. Arguments for and against this feat can be made.
Arguments Against
The basis of which this feat relies upon is that people are rewatching it, but that would mean their view would have to count instantly which isn’t how viewcounting on sites like YouTube typically work. So there would likely be a huge gap in people waiting for the video to actually load and play, and not reacting to viewing it instantly. Also just in general we never see a Gumball character reach these kinds of speeds, as other MFTL+ feats for Gumball are consistently a LOT slower making this feat very weird to scale.
Arguments For
Okay so, the argument that viewcounting doesn’t really work like that is iffy since sites don't commonly have numbers explode out of screen either, so it’s weird to compare it to real life viewcounting. The way the scene is showcased is that the video received a massive amount of views in a very small time frame; it can either be used to figure out the population of the planet or how many times the video has been seen. They also aren't watching the film instantly or 0 time, that's what the feat is for, figuring out how much time they took to watch the full clip multiple times over to get the view count showcased. The argument that it doesn’t fit in with other MFTL+ Gumball feats is also weird since it's an extremely massive figure that grows at an exponential rate and is used to showcase a direct number for something in the world, it is a high ball but one that is still beyond infinitely lower than the most basic immeasurable speed calc that characters in TAWoG can scale to. (Arguments mainly written out by RedEric, again go sub to him)
Conclusion
Soooo yeah. There’s nothing much going against this feat math-wise. The right numbers are all there, but the calculation methods might throw some people off, which is fair. We’re leaving this feat up to interpretation, but it ultimately doesn’t matter too much in the long run as both Nicole and Benson can scale to equally incalculable ends.
Alright, well, that’s completely all the Gumball feats that need explaining, right? Wait, there’s seriously one more, and it’s from a mid flash game that needs another in-depth analysis? Awwww FU-
Gumball and Rob Tanking the Multiverse Remotes
(aka MonkeyBoi’s sleep paralysis demon)
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH - MonkeyBoi’s Agony
I feel your pain - RedEric
So...here’s the big one. In the game Multiverse Mayhem, Gumball and Rob split the universal remote in half which makes two remotes that have multiversal powers (for some reason), being able to bring in other versions of Gumball from around 50 different universes. Due to the fact that the remotes canonically have Low Multiversal powers, would that mean Gumball and Rob tanking the destruction (and explosion) of them would equate to Low Multiversal durability?
Arguments For
These Remotes were capable of operating on a universal scale, as shown with how he toyed with reality, how we can see parts of the universe leading into the Void, and how it opened a rift back to Cyborg Darwin’s universe, just by the explosion alone. We also see that spatial rifts between dimensions are opened for other Gumballs to help out in the battle against Rob. Even if it was overloaded by too much energy that proves it was a comparable, most likely higher amount of energy compared to the one that could tear holes in reality, and toy with the net of reality. Alongside that, Rob’s statement about how he could destroy the whole cartoon seems to be around Universal, as every single time the cartoon was destroyed or disrupted in some way, it only affected the main universe. The best example is in the Distaster, where Rob ends the cartoon, but Gumball (in the Void) is completely unaffected by this. Alongside this, the fact that we do see how both Rob and Gumball tank the explosion of the multiversal remotes and are unfazed by this means that they should scale. Nicole obviously outclasses both Rob and Gumball so it should be fine letting her scale to it.
Arguments Against
This feat is pretty vague to say the least. To start, the power of these remotes in the first place are pretty vague. While you could assume that they can control and tear apart the multiverse, the only major power it has is to bring in Gumballs from alternate universes. The original universal remote, of which the two multiverse remotes originally were, only controlled the universe and could make small tears in it. Poking a hole in a piece of paper isn’t directly comparable to destroying it completely. While it still has all the same buttons on it as the regular universal remote, it’s still pretty defenseless. Yes, it is incredibly powerful in its own right, but the regular universal remote breaks really easily and doesn’t seem to harm anyone around it but itself. Even the mall around Gumball and Rob don’t seem to be harmed whatsoever. Sure the two remotes were being overloaded, but we can clearly see that they’re cracking apart meaning they likely took the blunt force of the damage themselves rather than Gumball and Rob. Also comparing this feat to other Universal Gumball feats, we see TAWOG characters physically break down at the destruction of universes usually, or even resist its destruction for a time like when the Wattersons went broke, which is more likely what this is if anything.
Conclusion
It’s debatable and different members on this blog have differing thoughts.
OKAY THAT’S ACTUALLY IT NOW RIGHT...OH COME ON-
Outerversal TAWOG?!?
There’s an argument that could be made for Outerversal TAWOG, which we’ll be addressing here. It’s not much, but there are items in Gumball, namely the Universal Remote, that can interact with things outside of the show. When Rob used the Universal Remote for the first time, it sent him back into the intro and even to before the episode started playing. And of course there’s that time the Wattersons existed in the layer of the storyboards, showing they can exist within that plain of reality. However, these are both examples of Gumball’s overarching cosmology just being a show. While both of the examples shown could be good examples of Gumball characters scaling to their own cosmology, they were explicitly shown to be struggling and in the Watterson’s case were literally ceasing to exist while in that plain of reality. To truly be Outerversal they would need to exist above it or at least be comparable, meaning they shouldn’t scale to their own cosmology. (hmmmm I wonder where we’ve seen this before)
And yes, just to address it, there are a few instances of TAWOG characters existing outside of the cartoon just fine, but these examples are hardly consistent with the research we’re using and are even less canon than the games and comics are.
Can Nicole interact with ghosts?
The only consistent rule in The Amazing World of Gumball is that no rules are consistent, especially on the point of ghosts/spirits and whether or not regular civilians are capable of physically interacting with them. We see in various games that characters are able to physically interact with Carrie, and even in the main show Darwin can interact with his own soul, though both of these instances are made moot by episodes like “The Letter”, in which most of the foundation of the episode is built on no one being able to physically touch Carrie unless she possesses someone that can be interacted with. Regardless, why does this really matter in the long run? Well, Benson has a ghost form and Nicole interacting with it could determine a hypothetical win con, or at least a specific advantage. Due to the inconsistent nature of this, but also because of the fact we’re soft composting both, we’ve ultimately determined that: yes, Nicole can likely interact with ghosts if she pleases. But overall, this point is mostly up to interpretation, especially if you’re only analyzing the main shows.
However, if you’re really curious, here’s an entire list of every single non-physical interaction (and lack thereof) made on the show, so you can come to your own conclusion.
Is Nicole capable of the same cartoony feats as other characters?
As we discussed in the Cartoony DNA section of Nicole’s powers, people in TAWOG’s verse are canonically described as cartoon characters, and have special powers because of it. All should theoretically be capable of Looney Tunes-esque hijinx in their world. Of course if a writer of TAWOG wants a character to do something then they should just… be able to do it… but this wouldn’t include a few character specific abilities. Like Nicole and Gumball (being, biologically speaking, cats) have sharp claws and such on their body for weapons that no one else would really have access to. Other character-specific abilities that aren’t really cartoon-based like Carrie’s teleportation or possession, Nicole wouldn’t get since no one else shows to do those things. Though there is another kind of cartoon power worth talking about, too...
Can Nicole respawn?
As we discussed in the Cosmology section of the blog, TAWOG is a show in-canon, and if a character is shown to die in an episode they usually come back in the next just fine. Nicole is also comparable to Gumball who can even straight up get rattled down to the bone in an episode and be fine just a moment later, or even Tobias getting sucked into a wormhole caused by dividing 0 by 0. The limits of this are likely endless, but due to the fact that Nicole will always come back in the next episode (canonically, at least) will Nicole ever lose permanently? Well, we don’t exactly know the timeframe of how fast TAWOG characters respawn in the next episode. Taking the cosmology literally, it’s probably just whenever the next episode airs, but that’s a very specific thing that should really only apply to Cartoon Network. In this blog, if Nicole dies once, that will be considered a win for Benson since she still technically perished overall. This is disregarding her genuine regeneration abilities, since she can likely only be permanently killed in a few ways. With that settled I think it’s the perfect time to get into the verdict! Wait what-
Should they scale to other CN characters?
“Coming up next on Cartoon Network!”
To put it simply, no. As we stated in the beginning, crossover scaling will not be used for this blog or the verdict.
…
BUT there are some arguments that can be made stating that CN shows exist under a shared cosmology, which we’ll be addressing here because we can and want to.
Adventure Time
This is likely the easiest one to get out of the way. So in the crossover comic between both franchises Princess Bubblegum makes this dimensional vertex device which takes Finn, Jake, Marceline (best girl btw) Ice King, and LSP to the Regular Show universe. This is consistent with the device taking them back to the Adventure Time Universe. Both crews from both sides are able to tank blows from one another so there’s clearly a scale chain for both sides. What makes the crossover consistent is that other Cartoon Network shows like Regular Show do in fact exist within Adventure Time’s cosmology and another instance where Mordecai appears in one of BMOs stories with J. G. Quintel reprising his role as the blue jay. Yeah the latter is a story being told by BMO. However, BMO was able to connect themselves to the Adventure Time Universe to Regular Show Universe for both our main heroes to play a game so BMO would at least have some knowledge on Regular Show’s universe hence why Mordecai is in the story sequence. Heck BMO even calls Mordecai the species he is meant to represent.
Okay that was easy, I wonder whǎ̴̦̯͎͆͐̏̀t̵͔̣̋̂̅͝'̷̘͎̟̙͋͊̀̇̊s̶̱̙̟̈͂͝ ̵̲̋̒͘̚n̴̡͉̳͂͛̿̏ē̴̡͈̫͉͐͗͘ͅ-̷̮͇̜͎̂̉͘
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Villainous
Oh...oh dear god. Where do we even begin with this???
I’ll take it from here.
Hello everyone who is reading this blog, I am Doctor Flug, one of the members of Black Hat Organization. And I’ll be your tour for this wacky multiverse we toons all live in.
In the world of Villainous we share a cosmology with every show within the Cartoon Network multiverse. These shows would include Uncle Grandpa, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Kids Next Door, Samurai Jack, Victor and Valentino, Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Ben 10, TTG, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and wouldn’t you guess it, TAWOG and Regular Show.
I’ll just rip the bandaid right here and now because to put it very lightly... THEY DO NOT HOLD A CANDLE TO WHAT BLACK HAT IS EVEN CAPABLE OF!!! Why is that you may be asking? Well there’s a huge reason as to why that is dear reader, The Universal Remote, Pops and Anti Pops. Lord Black Hat is shown to causally kill Pops and Anti-Pops at their peaks, I would know because I was there to witness it first hand.
As for The Universal Remote, it was made by yours truly, me! Unfortunately, I ended up losing the remote but was able to track its location in a place called THE AWESOME STORE and had gotten into the hands of some other evildoer, Rob, a being who is a mere mistake in his universe.
What we do know from both series is that The Universal Remote, Pops and Anti Pops are far above Benson and Nicole as a whole and would even straight up kill them.
If you don’t want wanna hear all this, here is the shortened answer;
Black Hat is simply out of Benson and Nicole’s league.
Wow...thank you Doctor Flug for helping out for this headache of a segment, you really are the best doctor.
Oh uhm...you’re welcome…and thank you too. If you want more context on our cosmology I’ll be sending you all off to the Black Hat vs Warden DBE blog I also helped out on. You should give it a read, those guys worked really hard on it and I even got to help on that blog too.
Also before I leave this blog, remember dear readers...
The Void
Alright, now to tackle The Void once ã̵͍̆g̴̠͔̪͆̔͐ą̴̜̯̉͆- a̵̗̹̬̐g̸̢̧͉̲̳̬͎͂a̷̧͖̫͊̓͝ï̸̪̺̰̹̥̰̗-̴̢̗̙͈̄̉͑͑͐͐̽ a̴̩̒ǵ̶̟-̶͖̎ Okay, what the what is going on with t̸̻̊h̶̢̃i̴̩͝-̸̏
You can shut up now, I’M A NICHE VERSUS BLOGGER TOO.
How could I forget this place. Supposedly filled with nothing but void and static dear viewer, there is SO MUCH MORE to behold than this black hatted freak and his little lackey teacher. ALL your favorite shows wrapped up into one with the click of a button to keep you entertained.
This.. LIMBO over ours has been shown to not only keep a watchful eye over a certain nemesis of mine but EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER (in Cartoon Network) TOO! With more evidence shown such as when GUMBALL tried to save me from my eternal self damnation, it displays whatever the TV happens to show transporting him to the set.
And a similar time to when I hijacked the show I’m a part of, but YOU just so happened to want to watch this GREAT DAME with a speech impediment fight another dog like themself. Couldn’t you see that I was TRYING to provide something for you?
So anywho, you may be asking yourself then, hopefully, “what would this do to change the verdict?” And my answer for that is uhhhhhhhhhh- weee potentially happen to share a multiverse together of CN shows?
Great job, Ron. You hijacked my blog and proved pretty much nothing.
I provided just as much as— MY NAME IS ROB. R-O-B!
Yeah, yeah whatever. Oh cool, what does this delete button on this remote do?
No-no, wait I-
Ahhh, much better!
Tributes
Verdicts
For as complicated as this debate ended up becoming, we’ve decided to break the verdicts up into teams, similar to how we did things in El Macho VS Fairy Godmother. Supporters of both characters will explain who they think wins, and there’ll be a final tally at the end to determine the overall winner.
Team Benson
Stats
Let’s start off with Benson’s stats, one of his good AP feats Benson has to offer for us is when he held his angry out which created a large crater in the process and was threatening the entire park which lands him in the Multi-City Block range (312 tons of TNT) but thanks to him learning Death-Kwon-Do he can get much higher. Rigby with it was able to leave a crater so big it reaches lava getting him to Town level (9 Kilotons). Onto durability Benson is able to endure A LOT of punishment over the cross of the franchise. One of his bigger survivability feats is being able to survive attacks from the destroyer of worlds which left this huge crater (35 Kilotons of TNT) and a massive explosion that totaled Earth’s surface (128.6 Exatons of TNT).
Finally speed, Benson was able to outran Anti-Pops and dodge his existence eraser lasers which even erased an entire planet in the process. There are even greater feats like Benson and the park crew were being able to react to the speeds of its sword growing bigger than the galaxy (1.5 Trillion C) and pilot vehicles that can travel across the universe in seconds (173 Quadrillion C) rotate in a vortex and make infinite donuts in the cart, can move in tandem with the Timenado’s moving timelines and rip a hole through space and travel through speed and Benson was able to react to this. Which places Benson at Infinite to Immeasurable Speeds.
Now looking into scaling it becomes even more crazy. He most definitely scales to the slackers we are all familiar with. Mordecai was able to destroy an entire planet shaped like a basket ball, outrun a beam of light, Rode a microwave that took him to a dimension at the end of time and a pony which took him backwards in time with speed alone. Rigby survived being zapped by the Time Piece, which was powering the Timenado and was destroying every single timeline in the Regular Show cosmology and plotting a ship to dodge lasers and timelines from the Timenado. And remember, The Timenado was going to erase every timeline in the universe including the abstract concept of time itself because of its power and warp through entire timelines and move them all at once, while simultaneously absorbing said timelines. Which would be a Multi+ to possibly 5D and Immeasurable Speed feat. With both slackers combined they are able to survive the destruction of Lolliland’s (0.26 Foe, Large Star Level+ - 178 Billion QuettaexaFoe, Universal+), Skips alongside park members able to defeat the Lord of Destruction who is a threat to the space-time continuum and The Infinity Monster who is unbound by space-time in their dimension and destroyed 10,000 suns both being Universal+ feats and the latter being Immeasurable. Benson should also scale to Streaming, who stores 6.8 Billion Universes (Multi to Multi+) and as we established earlier both in BTV and Verdict Benson should have a fine enough scale chain to the Timeando while downscaling to it.
Now let’s go over Nicole and see how she fairs in comparison. Nicole’s AP is pretty great, with her being able to snap her fingers she was able to create a shockwave which shook the neighborhood and was so disappointed she parted multiple clouds, placing her at Multi-Continental. Onto durability and she doesn’t really have as crazy as durability as her opponent, the best feats she has are enduring the house being blown up by the triple shock and being able to tank Yuki’s energy blast but that’s really it. As for Speed she is shown to be faster than the speed of sound and Yuki’s blast placing her at Mach 1 to 493.
Now onto scaling. The Watterson Family can jump from planet to planet and beyond in seconds, tank town to citywise explosions, and even tank the big bang (though Gumball and Darwin were far away from it). Then there are the elmore citizens who were able to watch Gumball’s video which calced to...3 Duotrigintaducentillion c - 247 Sexnonagintacentillion c (wtf even is that number) which uuuuuuuh...how do you even scale this to ANY Gumball character when they have clearly never achieved a speed feat much like this when it’s very clear that it was done with particularly everyone throughout the world which is even stated by Gumball himself, and besides MFTL+ feats like these are shown to be WAAAAAAY slower than this, at most 10,228c. There are arguments for Universal to Low Multi Gumball but even those have their issues as we previously mentioned in BTV. Even the ONE universal feat where the Wattersons run out of money would have KILLED them. What about Immeasurable Speed? Well even that has a big flaw that being IT’S NOT EVEN A SPEED FEAT. The countdown was something Gumball exactly broke and stopped time by accidentally crashing into the fourth wall which we see later Darwin be fine from this effect which should just be a resistance to time stop. Later in the episode when Gumball and Darwin try to set the clock back to zero they are pretty much shown to travel through time with the countdown and were shown to affect it. So yeah it’s pretty much just Space-Time Manipulation which required a literal plot device. Though Nicole still has two incalculable ends she can scale to. The first being Larry getting to his jobs so fast that he was in multiple different places at once. While this could be some kind of afterimage or potential duplication ability, we never see Larry do either of those things in the name of hard work, and he’d pretty much have to be in two places at once to run all the stories at elmore. So yeah, Infinite speeds. The next is Bobert punching Gumball so hard he got transported into a previous episode. While it could’ve been done through sheer physicality alone, this feat is still pretty vague as there isn’t another clearcut Immeasurable speed feat to compare it to.
Comparison
Pretty clear cut huh? To be fair though Nicole would definitely have a far greater AP advantage without scaling Town vs Multi-Continental but the AP feat requires her to be disappointed which is pretty unlikely to happen for a fight like this, and even then Benson is still far more durable and would likely be able to survive Nicole’s sad shockwave about 20 times over and the sheer speed advantage Benson has with and without scaling Infinite to Immeasurable vs MFTL+ to Infinite (potentially Immeasurable) is night and day. Nicole would have an extremely hard time even hitting Benson with her more deadly blows. This is made even worse when you do use scaling, as Benson would be around Uni+ to Multi+ while Nicole being Multi-Galaxy to Universal. Benson takes the edge in stats.
Arsenal & Abilities
Now this is where the deciding factor comes into play here, whoever has the better stuff here is pretty likely to win this fight, let’s start with arsenal. Looking at vehicles for both, all Nicole really has is Cartax and the minivan. While they’re two cool cars that can definitely take a surprising amount of punishment, Benson has the golf cart which can move at Infinite speeds and a plane that can not only fly but also travel through time! And even the space golf cart armed with various weaponry! And then there’s the station wagon too, I guess, but Benson’s incalculable speed vehicles definitely outclass Nicole’s, and Ori could theoretically take control of Benson’s vehicles, but given how fast and destructive they are it’s unlikely Nicole would get the chance. Benson has the edge in vehicles.
Moving onto more combat-focused weaponry, Benson has a bow and even a crossbow from Lords of Loot, both of which he’s particularly skilled at using. Along with this is the Exo-Suit, which could match Nicole’s martial arts skills. Also a flamethrower which realistically wouldn’t hurt Nicole that much, and of course, the gun. In comparison Nicole has a crossbow of her own, a paintball gun, and a baton. Assuming that maybe their crossbows even each other out, Nicole’s never shown as much skill with a bow as Benson has, as well as her baton which we’ve only seen her holding. And while Nicole has a measly paintball gun, Benson’s packing real heat with a genuine pistol, and that should be enough evidence to show that Benson has the edge in the more combative weaponry.
Before we move onto very hax-y items that could potentially sway the battle heavily in one’s favor, both Benson and Nicole have two very similar items that should get their own section, being they’re luck-controlling items. Benson’s fortune cookies can have anything written on them and heavily manipulate the probability of events happening. Nicole on the other hand has the Lucky Helmet! A tinfoil hat that basically just makes positive things happen for the user, which would include deflection of hits from projectiles. Though both of these have their caveats, the fortune cookies require some pretty heavy setup, and the Lucky Helmet is extremely vulnerable, only protecting the user and not itself from being removed. While the fortune cookies have greater luck control, and the Lucky Helmet can be used instantly, both mostly balance each other out in terms of their brokenness.
Next to reality warping trump card items, Benson has his House Rules, the Book of Park Records, and the Genie Wish Bottle. Nicole has the wedding dress… and that’s kind of it. While the wedding dress could theoretically be a way to get Benson to stop fighting, Benson has resisted weird kinds of control like that before and the dress would likely be no different. Comparing this to the House Rules and Park Records though… yeah it’s really no contest. While it’s questionable if Benson would use them in combat, the same can be said for the wedding dress, and Benson wouldn’t likely have to worry about the damage both would do to the Park because he has the Orderliness form which would clean up the Park just fine. Also there’s Benson’s Genie Wish, which could completely remove things like Ori and even Nicole herself from the battlefield. The only bad thing about the Genie Wish is that it requires pretty heavy setup from Benson himself. Wait, I think there’s one more thing I forgot to mention… The Universal Remote! No, not the one Rob has, but the one Benson has. It can control any technology Benson points it at, which would include things like Ori and potentially Nicole’s vehicles, too, but Benson would need to know about them both beforehand. Regardless, Benson should take the edge in trump card items though.
While Nicole could potentially match some of Benson’s arsenal, the only surefire thing she has with matching it is the Lucky Helmet. Other than that though Benson has a much greater arsenal in comparison to Nicole’s. (Oh and uh, their overall video game items don’t really give them much.)
Now with abilities… This is one of which Benson is definitely outclassed, at least versatility-wise. But with everything Benson has access to, let’s see what powers of Nicole’s really wouldn’t be much of an issue for him:
- Mind, Fear, and Fire Manipulation - All of these abilities are things Benson has resisted before, especially fire-based attacks, and given Nicole needs to get close to initiate her fear and mind hax it’s less likely they’ll be useful since Benson has long-ranged options to close the gap.
- Explosion Manipulation - Another example of an attack that Nicole would need to get up close and personal to use, as the Five-Point Head Explosion technique requires Nicole to hit five pressure points in a row to make happen. Given their likely equal speeds with Benson even being faster depending on what you buy, it’s unlikely Nicole could get the chance to pull this off since it’s so specific.
- Soul Manipulation - Now this is definitely useful and would allow Nicole to beat the hell out of Benson again if he dies and comes back as a ghost and kill him for good however the consistency for TAWOG interacting with spiritual beings is very questionable unlike Regular Show where it’s blatantly shown to be faaar more consistent where Benson CAN interact with spirits like High-Five Ghost. Sealing Benson away into Nicole’s stare isn’t much help either since he is able to resist the effects of Muscle Man’s Mosh Pit which sealed away physical and spiritual beings. So Benson can just stall the fight as much as he possibly needs to
- Size Manipulation - Benson can match this with his own size manipulation, which has even shown to be at a greater degree compared to Nicole’s.
- Body Manipulation and Transmutation - Benson can still keep going after having his universal biology manipulated by Mordecai & Rigby’s Multiversal Remote, and NO NOT THAT GAME. Not only that but Mordecai & Rigby which Benson should reasonably scale to were able to survive the deconstruction of their very bodies from anti matter...Benson should be fine.
- I’m Not Angry Just Disappointed - This ability isn’t really standard for Nicole because she was empowered by the console’s reality warping, however if you do buy this ability Benson should be able to survive it due to the sheer stat gap for durability.
- Mockingbird Manipulation - Nicole can call birds...idk it’s funny
So overall a lot of Nicole’s really good abilities and haxs can be countered due to Benson and the world he lives in just being built different.
Experience & Skill
We’ll be blatant here, Nicole is definitely more skilled and confident than Benson that much is a fact and then some. However Benson could potentially make up for this with his experience. Benson has shown to fight people who are far more experienced in martial arts like Nicole thx to knowing Death Kwon Do despite not having much experience with it and having the exo-suit allowing him to keep up with Nicole’s Skill advantage for a time, not only that but is shown to have more experience fighting people who are stronger and even on a cosmic level scale than Nicole, like the Geese and the business dudes who became the freaking moon on a galactic scale, fighting with the Timenado Resistance which was gonna destroy every single timeline on an omniversal scale.
It is worth noting Benson needed support in these scenarios, but it’s still far beyond anything Nicole has gone up against in her series where as she has fought people who are beneath her like the Elmore neighbors or just on her level like her doppelgänger and Yuki. We’ll just say this category is a tie. Speaking of support…
Support/Allies
Yeah this is no contest for either side. Ori is an extremely useful for hacking stuff meaning most of Benson’s equipment is rendered moot, however Benson has the ability to summon things and if we do factor them in even if it’s questionable but they are shown to be helpful in game has access to the purple portals from Ghost Toasters which can summon park members, which is especially helped with the fact that if Benson has good luck on his side it could possibly spawn in and give him a really good ally. It can be Mordecai, Rigby, Skips, or even...Pops...you know, the old man who just straight up destroys the entirely of Regular Show’s cosmology...yeah if that happens Nicole and her support is fucking dying lmfao.
God of Breaking is also here.
However if you DON’T buy the purple portals because that’s lame as all hell then yeah Ori should definitely clear both Apple Sauce and Antares in every single way. Ori is basically the Sage of the debate as she can come up with crazy ideas and give any kind of information to get Nicole out of some sticky situations in mere seconds, whereas Apple Sauce and Antares are more helpful in combat which Nicole should have no problem dealing with whatsoever.
Forms
Okay now THIS is where Benson truly shines. To be very nice to Nicole, The Limit and Anime forms probably her greatest access here giving her far more better mobility...but like, that’s about where it stops and is when Benson takes a huge edge here. Ghost Form brings out a whole lot onto the table like phasing, possession, and even freaking regeneration where it keeps the fight going. Please Benson is a really useful trump card if Benson somehow manages to pull this off, as he can warp the environment and reality itself on an insane area of effect from his game universe and into the real world affecting everyone in the process making it near impossible for Nicole to dodge it.
The only minor issue about some of these forms is that it requires certain circumstances in order for him to use these forms, however one of Benson’s greatest is The Holy Order of Orderliness doesn’t have these issues. We’ll be honest here...THIS is so damn busted for a debate like this. The Watterson Family in their nature is chaotic and as the fight progresses between the two the whole environment around the two would be in absolute chaos. Holy Order Powers are able to undo all the chaos and erase people who are linked to the concept of chaos on, well, a conceptual level which is beyond anything we have seen any TAWOG character regenerate from. What’s crazier is that after Benson learned about this, he still has them by the end of the story and might be able to use them at any time. Heck he’s even able to give these powers to allies! Benson takes a huge advantage in forms.
Recap
Advantages:
- Dominates stats with scaling...
- Much faster on finite and infinite ends without scaling
- Should likely be more durable without scaling
- Far more resilient and has multiple counter measures to most of Nicole’s abilities…
- Universal Remote and Genie Wish are guaranteed methods on incapacitating Ori and even getting her on Benson’s side being able to retrieve his tech and gain Nicole’s tech…
- Benson’s Genie Wish could also get rid of Nicole for good...
- Orderly Powers are a near instant win button which can undo practically anything Nicole does and kill her for good
- Possesses far greater reality warping capabilities like Book of Park Records, House Rules, Please Benson, and wouldn’t have to worry about the damage thanks to Orderly Powers being able to undo the harm...
- Resists Nicole’s mind and fear manipulation
- Surprisingly experienced dealing with people not only on Nicole’s level but even cosmic level threats
- Can match Nicole in terms of skills thanks to Death Kwon Do, and Exo-Suit…
- Likely greater luck control with the fortune cookies...
- Ghost form could keep him in the fight for longer
- If given the portals Benson kind of just wins
- More competent partner
- He fought streaming to preserve physical media before it was cool
- He’s hotter than Nicole idgaf - Dash (Truuuuue - MonkeyBoi)
Equal:
- With scaling are pretty similar infinite and immeasurable ends
- Resists each other's fire manipulation
- Both have Type 1 Acausality and Resilient Immortality
- Had such a good voice actor that Sam literally lost his voice to get mad
Disadvantages:
- ...Without scaling, is lacking in AP compared to Nicole
- …Most counter-measures like the Genie Wish require some kind of preparation on Benson’s end
- …For the Universal Remote, Benson would have to know of Ori’s existence ahead of time to even have the idea of hacking her
- …Though there isn’t much evidence to show that Benson would willingly (or knowingly) use the Records & Rules in a fight
- Please Benson requires outside help and certain circumstances to transform
- ...Exo-Suit is temporary help, while Benson never fully mastered Death Kwon Do, making for a noticeable skill gap
- …Fortune cookies require setup compared to the Lucky Helmet’s instant usage
- Possesses far less of a set of powers and abilities compared to Nicole, making him not as versatile in that department
- Would have a hard time putting Nicole down for good given her regeneration
- Roxy episode (I liked the episode - MonkeyBoi)
- The Best Burger in the World
- Benson does not have the best track record in terms of games he’s in
Team Nicole
Stats
Let’s first cover stats without scaling. Nicole’s highest feat of strength on her own is parting clouds so rapidly it amounted to around 4.3 Exatons of TNT, or Multi-Continent Level. Nicole has other feats of similar strength, like causing a shockwave around all of Elmore with only a snap, and colliding with Yuki making an explosion. Benson’s highest end without scaling is destroying a large area of the Park while being angry, coming out to around 312 Tons of TNT, or Multi-City Block Level. So that’s a pretty noticeable size difference between Benson and Nicole, nearly 600 billion times over! But of course this is only on their own, so let’s take a look at scaling.
At the low-ends, Nicole can scale to her kids surviving a massive paint explosion, being around 900 Tons of TNT, or Multi-City Block Level. This is consistent with Gumball himself, who can survive a citywide explosion coming out to 66 Kilotons of TNT, or Town Level+ on the high end. Both of these alone are already eclipsing Benson’s own City Block Level feat, and we’re only at low ends. Analyzing mid-ends next, Nicole should have no problem scaling to Darwin again, who sneezed the planet downwards, coming out to 1.6 Yottatons of TNT, or Planet Level. Honestly, how sick was Darwin that day, goddamn. Following this up is Gumball and Darwin surviving the Big Bang, as controversial as that feat is, but that at a high end is 38 Trillion YottaFoe, or Multi-Galaxy Level. Nicole and others are also capable of harming the Console, who pulled the entire universe into a gameboy, which would definitely be Universal levels of power. While Nicole only severely harmed the Console, not taking any hits from it, Nicole has an even higher end of physicality she’d naturally scale to. Gumball and Rob tanking the blast from the Multiverse Remotes, which would in turn equate to Low Multi durability.
Now let’s check out Benson. Comparing him to Rigby using Death Kwon Do leaving a large crater in the Park, that would equate to 9 Kilotons of TNT, or Town Level. Benson is also capable of harming the Hammer, who can absorb the entire city’s electricity without harm, coming out to about 102 Megatons of TNT, or Mountain Level. Benson himself can endure the entire vaporization of Earth’s land mass, being 128 Exatons of TNT, or Moon Level. This is mostly consistent with the God of Basketball who could change day to night in an instant, being about 10 Quettatons of TNT, or Small Star Level. But at the absolute high ends comes Mordecai and Rigby again, who can both tank hits from the Time Crystal which can power the Timenado. Assuming this isn’t a resistance, this would mean that the Park Crew all have AT LEAST Multi+ levels of durability, if not higher, which is INFINITELY higher than anything Nicole can scale to, even with leniency in certain scaling. And this is consistent with Streaming, a being Benson is comparable to, who can store billions of universes at planet Nielsen. But here’s the thing: it doesn’t really matter. Even with Benson’s AP, Nicole can come back from pretty much any physical form of punishment, not counting any forms or special abilities Benson has. So while Benson does take the physical category, all of it on his side would be rendered null by Nicole’s extremely great regeneration. So while Benson does take power... it doesn’t really matter in the long run.
Let’s move on to speed! To start, Nicole casually ranges from Subsonic to Supersonic, catching up to cars and running faster than the speed of sound. However the fastest she can get to without scaling is being able to dodge an up-close blast from Yuki, coming out to Mach 493 or Massively Hypersonic speeds. Benson on his own has… reacted to the Baby Duck sword growing to the size of the entire galaxy, which is about 1.5 Trillion c, or MFTL+ speeds. In case you think Benson himself didn’t have to react to those speeds, Benson literally piloted the arm part holding the sword so it’s likely he did it himself even. So yeah, Benson is a lot faster on finite ends without scaling, so let’s look into it.
Nicole on the low ends has other MHS feats to scale to. Like Gumball and Darwin high-fiving each other quickly, being Mach 174, or Alan dodging lightning being Mach 474. Skipping around to lightspeed feats, there’s Gumball and Darwin dodging a microwave laser at 3.7 times FTL, and of course Nicole’s kids jumping between planets, which is 10,228 c, or MFTL speeds. Nicole’s other MFTL high-ends are questionable at best, except for the dreaded viewcount feat. We’ll talk about it in a second. Benson’s Hypersonic speed feats are less fast, with Mordecai’s death jump being about Mach 31, or High Hypersonic speeds. Regardless, Benson scaling to beyond lightspeed feats are pretty clearcut. While Skips can bowl a ball fast enough to outspeed light beams, Mordecai can straight up run away from a blast of light, being very blatantly FTL feats. Moving onto MFTL+ feats though, Benson scales to Pops running to Jupiter, being 544 times FTL, and the God of Basketball again whose dispersal of the sky would be 544.4 times FTL… Wow, a .4 difference, if that doesn’t show consistency I don’t know what does. Regardless this is still slower than Nicole so far so let’s push on. Benson is shown to be able to dodge attacks from Anti-Pops whose beams can cross multiple universes in seconds, coming out to 20 Quintillion c, being MFTL+ speeds. Nicole’s highest calculable end though, of course comes from the viewcount feat. Every sentient thing on Earth reacted to Gumball’s video multiple times within a few seconds, being on a high end 247 Sexnonagintacentillion c, which is absolutely MFTL+ speeds. Not only is this one of the highest calculable speed feats in fiction, it’s one Nicole should absolutely scale to. Though the legitimacy of this is questionable, as it really isn’t consistent with the rest of TAWOG’s MFTL+ speed feats, yet that logic within itself is questionable since we have some incalculable ends that Nicole and Benson both scale to. Yeah, that’s right, speed likely won’t matter either.
Benson can not only react to his plane being sent physically backwards in time, which would obviously equate to Immeasurable speeds, he was a part of the Timenado Resistance, a team of people that could pilot ships in tandem with the Timenado’s merging timelines. And Nicole can scale to characters that can create after images by simply having lots of jobs and physically sending people back in time with one hit! These of course being Larry (although on the infinite end) & Bobert. While Benson’s Immeasurable feats are more literal and a lot more… plentiful, I suppose? Both have their obvious incalculable ends that make the speed category relatively a moot point. Speed is a tie.
Comparison
Both Benson and Nicole should both be relatively equal in speed with some leeway to Nicole. She can scale higher in speed with finite ends but overall can match Benson’s incalculable sides. With Benson’s usual physicality being made into a nothing point with Nicole’s regeneration, it’s pretty safe to call the overall stat category matched equally between both of them. This means neither Benson nor Nicole are going to pull a clearcut victory out of just stats alone, making stats a tie.
Arsenal & Abilities
Now THIS is where the meat and potatoes lie in this debate. But first, let’s go over their arsenals to see where they clash.
First with vehicles, Benson definitely has a lot more variety with his arsenal here. The regular golf cart, Space Cart, and Mach Infinity that can all move at incredibly high and even incalculable speeds are definitely nothing to scoff at. All Nicole has is her family’s two cars, but Benson’s skill with his vehicles are what we need to analyze further. With the space cart, in its introduction episode Benson was bad at using it, in fact it’s a really big plot point in the episode itself. The same can be applied to the Mach Infinity, Benson struggled. It’s better than the Space Cart, though still lacking overall to get it to its top speed when he was being chased. With Benson’s versatility with these vehicles being mostly limited, he also needs to be on the lookout for Nicole’s little friend who can hack into technology. Ori! It’s shown that she can hack into vehicles to control them, even working on a cosmic scale when she hacked into a satellite. So while Benson does technically have the advantage on paper, in execution Nicole has ways around Benson’s vehicles.
Now onto more combat-centric weaponry, Benson’s main two that would help out in the fight are the bow he wields and also the Exo-Suit. The bow Benson is shown to be extremely skilled with, and is definitely a lot more skilled than Nicole in the long-ranged field in general, even packing his own gun with him. However, Nicole has her own way of combatting Benson’s long ranged stuff like by creating a forcefield with her energy manipulation, as well as the fact that the bow itself is still limited and he will run out eventually if Nicole stalls enough. Now for the Exo-Suit. This could potentially give Benson a way to rival Nicole’s extremely enhanced fighting capabilities, but overall Nicole simply has far better fighting skills than Benson does with the Exo-Suit. While the suit could adapt to Nicole over time, there’s another specific advantage Nicole has against the Exo-Suit. Ori again. The Exo-Suit is shown to be cybernetic and Ori could definitely just hack into it again. Regardless, Benson will hardly be pulling a win off with just the Exo-Suit alone. Benson once again has the versatility picks here, but Nicole has ways to counter most of them.
The second-to-last category is their luck-based items. For Benson, his fortune cookies, and for Nicole, the Lucky Helmet. Benson’s main advantages here come with his good fortune not having to be on Benson’s person to be used properly and has shown to work on a cosmic scale. However on Benson’s end this requires very heavy set-up maneuvers, and it’s heavily implied by the ending of the episode that Rigby and Benson’s luck will eventually run out unlike the Lucky Helmet’s. Nicole’s helmet effects are instant, working with the individual's best interest in mind (until they wish to destroy it) and not something that happens over a span of days like the cookies. Even if the Helmet does get knocked off Nicole, it still retains its lucky properties. And finally the Helmet has shown to affect other people too, with sabotage against it proving mostly futile, conflicting with Benson’s good fortune. Benson definitely has a better control of his luck than Nicole, but Nicole’s instant usage of the Lucky Helmet is too powerful to ignore.
Now for their more hax-y items which could easily decide various categories of this battle on their own. For Nicole, she really only has one item befitting this category, her wedding dress. Benson has never been shown to resist such a heavy social influence before, meaning he’d likely be vulnerable to it… However, it’s pretty unlikely Nicole would ever use her dress in combat, and it’s also implied that she doesn’t know the effects the dress holds anyways. Sooo now onto Benson. The Park Records are the first of this kind of item, and honestly it’s pretty powerful. Being able to manipulate the environment to do literally anything is nothing to ignore. But like a lot of Benson’s arsenal this has its caveats. It’s highly unlikely Benson would use the Records as an actual reality warping tool given the episode's appearance. It’s also just as likely to be stolen by Nicole if she wishes to see it as a threat, somehow. And even then, the Book of Park Records has really only been used on the Park itself. On neutral ground, this would also be moot. The same of the Park Records can also be applied to the House Rules, Benson doesn’t truly understand the scope of his Rules nor would he normally use them in a fight. Next up is Benson’s Universal Remote, able to hack any kind of technology Benson pleases, potentially being able to get rid of the threat of Ori completely and turn her to Benson’s side. But, the same could be said in reverse. Ori could just hack into the remote and use it herself. Benson also required the use of the other Disc Masters to help use the Universal Remote to its fullest potential. Also Benson would need to know about Ori in the first place, it’s unlikely that Benson would go for the first hacking move. Though taking a look at the hijacking Ori has done could possibly clue him in. But if Benson is aware enough, Ori being taken away would be extremely fatal on Nicole’s end. Now the Genie Bottle. This can do… literally anything the user wishes. And unlike the rules and records, Benson has used this in the past to actually warp reality to his advantage. If Nicole can’t get to Benson in time for him pulling this out, Nicole herself would be at risk of dying completely. While Benson doesn’t exactly have the VS-debater mindset of “I wish for this guy to be erased from the timeline completely!” He would definitely wish away certain things like Ori if he were having a rough time. Though there’s one thing Benson can’t control in this instance. No, it isn’t Ori again since the bottle isn’t technology, it’s the fact that Nicole can just rip Benson’s mouth off completely with her Body Manipulation ability. Or even destroying the Genie Bottle completely! Again, Nicole can’t do much if she doesn’t get to Benson in time, as only those who rubbed the lamp can wish for things. So while Benson definitely has surefire ways to get rid of Nicole and her advantages with his various items, Benson pulling these off are either extremely unlikely or extremely counterable by Nicole.
So while on paper it seems that Benson has the edge, which he does, not only does Nicole have ways to negate them and use them herself, you have to put extreme belief in the idea that Benson would have the idea of using them in the first place.
But now, let’s check out Nicole’s abilities and see which ones Benson resists.
- Fire Manipulation - Benson has shown enough feats of surviving far stronger heat than Nicole has created.
- Fourth Wall Manipulation - The whole point is that Nicole is blocked by the borders of the show and though she could get rid of them, she’d be doing it blind. With the help of his Spatial Manipulation, Benson would fare a bit better.
- Energy Manipulation - Though the energy held in Nicole is natural, Benson has far better training at longer ranges than Nicole has. Not to mention the Death Block would help block the oncoming energy beams from hitting him.
- Soul Manipulation - There’s not enough evidence to suggest how powerful Nicole’s Soul Manipulation should be, Benson has also shown resisting the effects of Muscle Man’s Mosh Pit making her type of vague soul sealing moot.
- Size Manipulation - Benson, although shown in a more situational context, can reach greater heights than Nicole could. With only speculation with the cloud form potentially rivaling it.
Now let’s see the win conditions Nicole has in comparison that Benson doesn’t resist.
- Age Manipulation - Benson… has no resistance to Nicole staring at him to rapidly control his age.
- Fear Manipulation - Surprising, huh? Though we do have Benson having a resistance to Fear Manipulation, there is too much to discredit about the way he fought the Nightmare Alien to suggest that he can resist the effect of his Fear & Nightmare Manipulation. For one, when the crew had confronted Carl he wasn’t using any of his abilities as he only needed to torment Pops. And even when they came face to face it was only hand to hands. No Fear or Nightmares on his end were used. As a result, there are too many problems to say that Benson wouldn’t be able to resist the Penance Stare from Nicole.
- Body Manipulation - There’s evidence to suggest that Benson could resist any other type of Body Manipulation, besides this. Nicole ripping off his mouth is a simple, yet effective method to keep Benson mute. Because unlike other characters in Gumball, Benson can’t reapply his mouth back on himself anytime.
- Mind Manipulation - Benson can actually resist the effects of Mind Manipulation, as he’s resisted the effects of far stronger users of the ability like Susan. However, a part of Nicole’s MM is Memory Manipulation too. Which he hasn’t been shown to resist.
- Vibration Manipulation - In the Prank Wars we’re shown that Benson can “resist” the effects of lots of whoopee cushions going off all at once which tore the park house apart, but he was still shown affected albeit to a slightly less degree. All of the Vibration feats made by Nicole were done casually, by her hands (which affected the whole neighborhood) and eyes (everything in her path at the grocery store), implying something far more destructive on Nicole’s end that would still affect Benson.
- Explosion Manipulation - As we’re using similar speed ends, Nicole landing her explosion technique considering… that’s kind of her whole deal. Benson is fighting a professional martial artist who can naturally perform techniques similar to this on the fly no matter if it’s specific.
- Transmutation - Shown with the Universal Remote Benson can still walk the talk while changed, just all of the forms he got turned into were variations of his Gumball Machine self. Nicole quite clearly puts him out of his element with her own.
- Disintegration - Similar to the Fear Manipulation there’s an argument to be made for the faux Nightmare Alien resistance, but the Disintegration on Nicole’s end is only a byproduct of reacting against her. As shown by Larry, who have known each other for years by that point.
For how much Nicole has in terms of abilities, it’s extremely hard for Benson to keep up, let alone have a way to properly deal with them. But for the opposite end, Nicole has plenty of ways of dealing with Benson that don’t require much thought to “he could or he would.” She will.
Experience & Skill
Let’s make this clear, Benson doesn’t hold a candle to what Nicole has had experience in. Fighting loads of enemies is great, unless you’re not usually the one fighting them hand to hand or even ability to ability and letting others deal with it for you no matter the scope. Hell, Benson’s made it clear that he’s less than experienced as to what Mordecai and Rigby often go through. Skill is not on Benson's side either, he can fight of course, but it's more like brawl fighting, like you and I would fight someone else on the street, in contrast, Nicole is a trained martial arts master, ever since she was eight. Casually taking on foes twice her size and weight, taking on challenges that are deemed impossible, and nonetheless training daily.
Benson’s Exo-Suit does help even the situation a little but remember, it’s mainly the suit doing the fighting in his place. Coming up with random fighting styles in the head that the suit’s overpowered state allows for to happen.
As for Death Kwon Do, now it’s fair game. Fighting experienced DKD users even while he’d been suffering from the Death Sandwich. But there’s a catch, Benson not only has to prepare for the proper attire but we’re also forgetting someone important from Nicole’s side. Yuki Yoshida. Who has explicitly been training her whole life in preparation for the rematch against Nicole, and she has fought against her rather evenly despite their massive gap in training.
So overall Nicole should take the edge in both Skill and Experience, only slightly tying with Skill IF Benson has equipped Death Kwon Do, however unlikely that’d happen.
Supports/Allies
Yeah, these two just don’t compare. While Benson’s animal companions are cool and all they basically become obsolete due to one feature only: Optimization. Ori can simply predict the nature of the two and relay a perfect path for Nicole to take them out, making Apple Sauce’s brains useless in the process. The whole point of Ori is that she sees through logic and adapts.
There’s also an argument to make that Benson can summon any of the park workers and such to his side, but not only are they extremely unpredictable with only one coming through each time it’s used, have a reliance on something that’d be even harder to come across like the Fortune Cookies (with Nicole known for stealing without people noticing!), and finally it’s fairly questionable if Benson should even be given the portals. (Chance time aaaaa portals)
Wunderklopp is also here.
Nicole should debatably take Support, IF you don’t buy the dubious (and frankly lame) portals, thanks Wunderklopp!
Forms
Let’s be fair to both and say that while they both look deadly, almost all of them aren’t all that useful for either. Benson’s True Anger and Nicole’s Limit require a setup ahead of time where they’re put under their aforementioned breaking point. Benson especially where he had to shut his mouth the whole episode unless he wished to be fired, with nothing much to prove that he could just enter that state under normal circumstances. Nicole, although technically more versus viable for the additional bloodlust, removes one of her greatest strengths in the fight; her fighting prowess and intellect.
Jealousy wouldn’t ever happen under a fighting scenario like this, Please Benson requires the unintentional use of magical artifacts to become into with the similar downside to The Limit which removes Benson’s fighting prowess, Nicole’s anime form is everything she can normally do but in a new body and the Santa outfit is for the funnies.
That leaves us with the Ghost Form, Order Form and the Family Motivation in which, yeah Nicole doesn’t really have an edge in. Sure, being pushed to her limit this time without The Limit’s limit is great and all but Benson’s simply provide him with far more strengths and abilities rather than a simple power up. For one, coming back from the dead and obtaining that sweet regeneration as a ghost. Although you could argue that Nicole can just as easily kill him again or resist any of his possession, in which case then fair.
But The Holy Order of Orderliness Form is a whole new story. Providing Benson with a simple solution to Nicole’s regeneration, it doesn’t require much of a setup at all considering the inherent nature of Nicole and her family and Benson is actually shown using it in a somewhat normal state! Benson should take this with the sheer variety of the Order Form alone.

Sorry to burst your bubblegum, but the only thing Benson couldn't manage was Nicole's regular showing of strength.
The winner is Nicole Watterson.
Bonus Before the Next Time
Dash here, something I did way back in Flowey VS Giygas was I put a bunch of matchups for Flowey that I liked near the end, and I wanna do that again but with both series! So here’s some words before the Next Time from I and the researchers about various Regular Show and Gumball matchups. Enjoy! Or just skip it if you want. I’m not your mom.
Regular Show Matchups
Mordecai & Rigby VS Red & Blue
Moofie:
When you think of a Mordecai and Rigby matchup, the first one to come to mind is likely VS Finn and Jake. And while I do like the matchup, I just don't have any history with them (for now). This one on the flipside is THE matchup for me. I love Dick Figures, despite its age, I love online internet stick-figures and I love Regular Show. Following along these two best friend loser assholes while one seems to be the “worse” out of the duo as they do normal everyday stuff that suddenly turns into like what, the apocalypse? All because of a video game? And the fittingly blue guy is trying to get more in the romance side of their stories. Culminating in their final quest, showing off their futures and how far they’ve come. You can add in their wacky arsenals and odd fighting styles for some off the wall animation potential, and it can’t be a Mordo and Rigs matchup without great banter. Blue and Mordecai as the more chilled out, usually more reasonable person in comparison to their friends' more outgoing selves. Red and Rigby engage in more douchebaggery and very likely taunting each other until that blows up in their faces. And all you got left are a couple of regular dicks. Lazy name, but accurate.
AlfieMations:
You know which fucking Mondo series imma advocate for getting matchup soon lmao.
Muscle Man VS Brody Foxx
Dash Fish:
So yeah this matchup exists. It’s definitely a joke/silly matchup, but it’s one that works so well. Two dude-bros that tell jokes about mothers. And it’s surprisingly pretty close! Yo Mama is such a fever dream to me, I remember watching it during the early YouTube days, and seeing the channel’s downfall today is honestly kind of sad and funny at the same time. Regardless, this matchup has a lot of potential for funny moments between the two, with Brody’s weapons from the referenced media in Yo Mama (which includes things like the Death Note, a lightsaber, Pokéballs, the ability to summon both Mario AND Sonic, and THE ACTUAL FUCKING DRAGON BALLS) against Muscle Man’s pranking supplies, basketball powers, and everything else he gets in the show. While this matchup actually happening on Death Battle is very low, it’s still a fun time and I’d love to see it covered in a different VS show maybe. Hey there was also a blog on it so who knows. Also remember when this matchup got officially recognized by Brody Foxx? That was funny.
MonkeyBoi:
It's peak…That is my statement on the matchup. You know what else is a statement?
The Godzilla Singular Point Novel it hard carries any Godzilla debate
BlueGatito:
I remember watching 'Yo Mama' as an internet-obsessed kid without parental supervision and loving it... because I was a kid. I even remember posting Yo Mama jokes in the comments thinking that if I was lucky they'd turn it into an anime because I was that dumb as a kid. Anyway, when I found out this matchup existed and became more popular than Muscle Man vs. Luan Loud (Seriously, that was a MU at one point), I fell in love with it and its goated blog.
This MU is basically vibes. You see these two characters together and the vibes are undeniable. The fight would be ridiculous, and Brody Foxx, without any irony, fits Regular Show so perfectly that it makes it seem like he was specifically created to be the best matchup for Muscle Man. That's how good it is.
AlfieMations:
Really like this matchup “ironically” and I’m… as versed in the Yo Mama lore as the average person probably should be lol. Though I will say that… I have nothing of note to really complain about lol. I guess the tone would be off? And I also don’t imagine a light scenario of the Yo Mama creator interacting with this matchup. But I still quite like it.
Skips VS his matchups
Pad:
Immortal - I honestly vibe with this matchup. Skips is my favorite of the park cast, it’d be interesting to pit the two’s granted immortality against each other. Even though The Immortal is mocked by the Invincible fandom, I think this matchup has good banter potential.
MonkeyBoi:
Frieren - This is a matchup I can heavily vibe with and is honestly my favorite for both. Skips and Frieren have such calm and straight up personalities that bounce off each other really well and their stories are pretty similar to one another. It’s really thematic and it does have some really good fight potential, it being versatility vs magic and all. Skips and Frieren are also some of my favorite characters in fiction and realistically speaking...they would be good friends.
Immortal - Another matchup I vibe with for Skips which has nearly all the same things I like about Frieren and can go either way between her and Immortal being my favorite. Fight potential does stumble a bit because it’s just fist to fist but I honestly don’t mind that.
Dash Fish:
Garnet - Hey it’s my favorite gem! These two soft-spoken members of their respective groups wield gauntlets and are immortal, isn’t that neat. Skips, and Garnet especially, always benefit from a good fight, and while Skips really only fights when he has to, both of these guys would have great banter between them. A thing with every Skips matchup is he could easily have a line referring to how he’s heard of them before, or in this case the Crystal Gems, making for a really unique conflict or set-up as well.
Immortal - Yeah they’re both immortal, for sure. The potential for this fight to legit go on for multiple days or months even is kinda cool, playing into both of their immortality. Idk it vibes. Although with the stats we gave Skips in this blog he kinda stomps all these matchups into the floor, these would still be cool to see.
BlueGatito:
Garnet - This MU is a classic if I've ever seen one. Skips is the goat, Garnet is also the goat, both shows aired around the same time, the characters had the same vibes and similar roles in the story, and they mostly fought by hitting things. It's incredible. Although thanks to modern power scaling, this MU is a Stomp in favor of Skips, this MU will always have a place in my heart as the MU between the two Cartoon Network badasses who seem static but actually have tragic pasts that have made them the people they are now, secretly softer, willing to help the new guys protagonists with their wisdom and-
Huh, maybe the MU is more thematic than I thought.
Squidward VS Benson
MonkeyBoi:
Remember the time I made art for this matchup? No? Okay here you go. Anyways this is a matchup I can genuinely vibe with a lot especially using two of my favorite characters from both franchises, it’s surprisingly thematic in a way where depending on how you approach the match could lead to a pretty emotional ending. If Death Battle was to make SpongeBob vs SF Aquaman emotional then I believe these two angry workers who are misunderstood by others could also have an ending similar to that one. The interaction potential is pretty neat, connections are simple but still good overall. The debate is for the most part in Squidward’s favor but I could see Benson getting a few wins here and there. It also has a blog, so go read it.
AlfieMations:
There’s something in me to say this matchup has kinda fallen off, especially when you look at this matchup since they’re both contrasts technically, except BenCole is more just the funny idea of the “Angry Karen” Vs “Angry Manager” matchup. While this one is more so “Angry Manager” Vs “Angry Employee” which wouldn’t really lead into a necessarily appropriate reason for their conflict unless the scenario is that Squidward like, leaves the Krusty Krab, goes to the surface (for some reason) and works at the park only for a bunch of Mordecai and Rigby shenanigans to piss him off which then escalates into conflict between them which as hilariously complex as that is, I don’t really see an interesting dynamic between the two here, unless they just like trauma dump to each other about their struggle lol. Though aesthetically I do think it’s kinda cool I guess?
Benson VS Pigsy
Dash Fish:
I dunno this matchup is just really cool, the two strict yet respectful business manager dynamic kinda goes hard I think?? If you want a more grounded Benson fight compared to the amount of chaos that comes with Squidward and Nicole then this is the MU for U! Also Lego Monkie Kid is a pretty underrated show you should go watch it.
MonkeyBoi:
Yeah I can vibe with this matchup. Connections are good enough, fight and banter potential seems pretty fun and it has my hyperfixation that is Lego Monkie Kid sooooo yeah it wins me over.
Pops VS Kirby
Dash Fish:
Two roundheaded extremely happy aliens who crash-landed on planets while they were babies and grew up to be cosmology-shattering saviors who fight space demons. I hate the fact that this kind of works? I dunno Pops really doesn’t have any other good MUs and we have one for literally every other character so why not him too? So yeah, as surprisingly thematic as this MU is, I don’t really wanna see Pops die again (even if he genuinely has a pretty good chance at winning). I think these two should just chill out and enjoy some lollipops together.
Finn & Jake VS Mordecai & Rigby
(TN made by MikansimpPyoro)
BlueGatito:
What? Did you seriously think we were going to talk about Regular Show Matchups without mentioning this classic? Yes, I loved both shows as a kid. I felt like these shows grew with me, as their characters evolved and developed, as Finn and Jake went from being goofy adventurers to great and legendary heroes, and Mordecai and Rigby went from being irresponsible manchildren to mature adults who had more control over their lives. And looking back at these shows as an adult, I realize how good they always were, finding new things to love in shows I've already seen a thousand times, and I thank God I was born in that generation to watch shows like those.
But yes, a crossover between the two was like the most requested thing for any Cartoon Network fan of that era, and this MU simply gives us all the insanity we could want AND MORE. This MU works without porting whether you give them everything or just the standard stuff; it's that good, and even when you limit things, it's still incredibly insane.
Remember when the maximum for both was Planet Level? Those were the good times... But yeah, it's incredible MU is so popular for a reason.
MonkeyBoi:
It’s Finn & Jake vs Mordecai & Rigby dude...do I REALLY need to explain why this is peak?
Dash Fish:
This is one of my most wanted matchups of all time. There are plenty of good Adventure Time and Regular Show matchups to go about, but for me this is definitely “the one” for both series. These shows both came out around the same time and mean so much to so many people, myself included, and it would be amazing to see them fight using every single weapon and ability they’ve ever received. A great set-up could be both getting sucked into an online fighting game, which has happened to both multiple times. It may be a nightmare research-wise, and heavily based in legacy, but that’s alright.
AlfieMations:
I mean… yeah what can I say? This matchup is peak, one of my most wanted atm, I have decent enough memories of both series as a kid, I love the characters, I love the matchup.
Actually should’ve won the 2022 Death Battle Champions Ballot ngl Wiz lmao.
Gumball Matchups
Kiff VS Gumball
(TN made by MediocreProductions)
MonkeyBoi:
Ooooooh boy this one. This one is by far Gumball’s best matchup and there are a crapton of reasons as to why it’s my favorite for him. For one...A silly turtle friend of mine created this matchup and has it as their most wanted/favorite matchup of all time because not only they like The Amazing World of Gumball but adore Kiff and it’s a show they hold to their heart and which goes to my next reason. Originally I found Kiff to be a pretty charming show but that’s all I saw in it, that was until going deeper into the series started to grow on me and gave me a lot more enjoyment than I expected. After having many conversations about the show with them it also slowly became one of my favorite shows and media out there and I’m all caught up on the show and am so ready for what the show has to offer in the future. The Amazing World of Gumball is a show I really love. I even watched it with my dad and we got some really great laughs out of the show, so seeing these two fight each other would be a dream come true. It surprisingly has a lot of fun fight potential with both their gadgets and abilities clashing off extremely well which has just as much potential as all the toon battles we had on the show. The banter potential is comedy gold, Kiff is a kind-hearted squirrel through and through and is willing to help others indeed, she is the A+++ student and works extremely hard to achieve her goals. Gumball is a stubborn, lazy, selfish cat who for the most part puts himself over others and uses any shortcut he can to get through obstacles which allows him to quickly think of things which usually end badly for him. So interaction potential between one another could lead to some really funny interactions. It’s also really close depending on how you scale both, I’ve done some research for both characters and I’m sort of leaning towards a Gumball dub atm. Should slightly outstat Kiff if you buy the Multi Remote explosion, would absolutely blitz on finite ends (especially that feat like jesus christ what is that number), is waaay more versatile in equipment and abilities.
Tl;dr - It’s peak, easy top 10 favorite matchups of all time.
Gumball VS Boom Sonic
Dash Fish:
While this matchup isn’t necessarily Gumball’s best or whatever (though that’s just my thoughts you can have that take if you want) he’s my personal favorite for him and I still wanted to share this matchup because it genuinely has the greatest potential for a setup in a fight I’ve ever heard. As I’m sure some of us know, there’s an episode of TAWOG where Gumball spends the entire episode trying to meet the famous Super Mario but at the end he learns it’s just a weird worse version of Mario and he’s disappointed. So imagine the look on Gumball’s face when he meets another one of his gaming idols, Sonic, only to realize that it’s the worst-received version of Sonic ever, just like what happened with Mario. Isn’t that like the most perfect setup for a fight ever?? And plays into the meta-ness of both shows pretty well, too. Legit I’d love to see a script written on this, even if Gumball pretty much stomps Boom Sonic into the ground (at least with the stats we gave him in this blog). Regardless this matchup has great interaction potential (and surprisingly sound connections) and features genuinely my favorite version of Sonic. I dunno I just think he’s funny, I have some good memories with him.
Story Dove:
YA know, back in my day, with the dinosaurs, as a kid I used to watch a ton of Gumball. It was one of my obsessions, alongside (forgive me) PPG, Dexter’s Lab, a certain Nick show you’ve probably heard of and Sonic Boom (I’ll get to that later). It was such a fun, silly cartoon that fit what I liked at the time. I was expecting it to be an action anime, due to the Fury fight, but it ended up being even better. Mostly Season 2-4 were my favourites (and they still are), while I did love Darwin the most, Gumball was still a funny character I liked at his core.
Moofie:
This matchup is nearly everything I’d want in a Gumball fight besides a little lack of toonforce stuff, but the Archie comics help remedy that. I really enjoyed the Boom show, besides the times when the animation quality was not good at all lmao, and I’d say Gumball is one of my favorite cartoon protagonists. Their two personalities, egos, ways behind the fourth wall, connections to their found families (found more on Sonic’s end) and it’s all great once combined together into one weird mushy smoothie. Making use of both series art styles by combining both 2D and 3D into one matchup. Also Gumball wants to meet Sonic, and it’s Boom Sonic. It writes itself.
Patrick VS Richard
Dash Fish:
So basically they’re both pink and dumb and love to eat and are unemployed and that’s funny to me. There’s a few TAWOG VS Spongebob matchups that float around but I think this is the best one. It just plays off of the nature of both so well, and could have some silly moments between the two of them. Both have enough of an arsenal and cartoony BS to throw at each other and the only thing it’s lacking in is maybe debatability? But genuinely if Richard gets a job it’s kind of over for Patrick, ngl Wiz. So yeah not much to say on this one overall but it’s an underrated matchup and personally I think the best for both! also you have to admit this MU has the perfect combined name, “PatRic”, so peak
Donald VS Nicole
Moofie:
(now it makes sense)
We’ve been researching Nicole, so it’s only fitting that she’s being put against another rage-filled matchup, but one that leans more into her being a parent. Really though, Ducktales 2017 is amazing and you, yes YOU, should watch it. And I don’t have to tell you how wonderful Gumball already is. This time around Donald is a main character in the story and has to fill the role of a single parent of these constantly danger-prone children, while trying to maintain a stable job that he keeps failing at due to his anger at the world and those around him. Sound familiar yet? Work in their toon force, some scenes where they get super dramatic and change style (Nicole goes full anime while Donald gets the voice chip and reciprocates Nicole’s awesomeness), their powerful rage forms (Nicole gets deadly serious, Donald blows a fuse) and the love for their children that they’re supposed to maintain responsibly for. Is this matchup fair? I’d assume not, considering the stats we have her at. But honestly who cares, I don’t. Especially with how many positive ideas that outweighs.
Dash Fish:
Yeah after Moofie’s explanation that honestly sounds kinda dope. Also fr go watch Ducktales RIGHT NOW!
The Spot VS Roy
Seriously?!?! How many times-
Moofie:
Look, Death Battle. All the peak the world has ever made,,,, But really, there’s just so much I love about this matchup. Down to their uselessness within their worlds and the desire to be more than that, originally starting out as some background nobodies related to a one-off joke that later get blown into proportion, the disfigurement (that shows how out of touch they’re physically in reality) that came from the person who started it all and constantly jokes at their expense, their arcs in becoming more powerful, gaining a new power and last but not least THEY’RE 100% THEIR TRUE NEMESES. Of course there are some deviations, but I think they still help the matchup a lot. The Spot doubled down on his goals, losing his humanity at the price of power. While Rob starts to understand Gumball better and tries to save the world to not end up like him. Overall, I’d say it’s great. As for the fight potential, while I have seen some criticism for it I simply disagree. Rob is an agile guy, let him use more of his Wile E-like equipment along with the Universal Remote to fight The Spot. Falling through portals to different worlds for some gags, Rob attempting to figure out The Spot’s spots, playing catch-up with the Remote as the two attempt to take control over it, etc. Let Rob be confused with “who the heck is this guy”, Spot looking upon the Void and what it means for the universe and himself “the world saw potential in me?” I could just go on with the amount of potential held in this matchup, but you get the idea.
Dash Fish:
So I kinda love this matchup also. Moofie said all that I could say about it, but the extreme potential that comes with Rob’s universal remote pairing with the battlefield-changing abilities of The Spot’s… uh… holes… would be awesome to see. These two petty men with a serious antagonist syndrome just deserve to fight against someone with such a similar arc. At the time of this blog coming out, Beyond the Spider-Verse hasn’t come out yet, but the Spot could potentially make this matchup really debatable if it does. Or you could just include scaling from the comics and such to make it fairer. Either way this matchup would be great, and is genuinely the only fight I could see starting inside of a grocery store. (saitama vs popeye? - Moofie)
BlueGatito:
I remember the day I saw 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,' a film that was even more incredible than the first, a prime example of what the animated medium, the superhero genre, and the concept of the multiverse can do if people put their minds to it and aren't lazy about them. And yet, among the millions of thoughts I had after seeing this film, one of them was: "Huh, Spot reminds me of Rob."
Yes, this MU is thematically INCREDIBLE, with a unique dynamic between the two in dialogue, and a universal destructive potential between all the things these two could have... relatively speaking, I do hope 'Beyond the Spider-Verse' comes out soon so they can give Spot more abilities than just teleportation so people don't have to composite him with his comic book version (seriously, at that point they ruin the best part of the MU).
And while we're at it, we might as well wait for Rob to return from that cliffhanger from seven years ago, making fans wait for a resolution to THAT... which I'm sure will happen any moment...
Yep, any moment...
Rog VS Fredbear
THAT’S NOT EVE-
Dash Fish:
As goofy as FNaF World is, Fredbear is kind of the scariest part of all of it. They’re the self-aware glitchy monsters in their own media, forgotten by their original creators, only to be brought back and perished through a paradoxical existence. They both genuinely have some powers and items to play off of each other, with Fredbear’s weird arsenal of FNaF World making for an interesting debate. Rob likely wins given, again, Gumball stats, but I think this is pretty close either way. I think this MU kinda perfectly represents how both of their source material can be very very silly at times, but also pretty serious when it needs to be, and Rob copy and pasting Fredbear with the remote to kill him like how he died originally would go extremely hard.
Doppelgänger Arle VS Rox
I give up.
Moofie:
Listen!!!!! I know the connections technically don’t work!!!!!! But still!!!!! It would be fun to see someone like Rob tackle a dark magic user similar to Doppel vs his Universal Remote and such, working in their egos as their fantastical selves like Dr. Wrecker and Pierrot, and their pleas to still exist within the world are ideas I have yet to really see in any other matchup before. And with Puyo Puyo and Gumball is such an odd combo that I can’t help but love all of it. SEGA MAKE DOPPEL LORE CANON PLEASE. Or make a good Puyo Puyo game for that matter.
Rob vs Me
YOU... You actually said my name right! Thank you weird trash bag dud-
You’re not off the hook Rob, you bought something that originally belonged to me called the Universal Remote. Now, please hand it over and I promise things won’t end horribly for you.
...Ehhhh okay so don’t get angry at me, but I maaaay have destroyed it.
YOU WHAT?!?!?!?!
Gaylord Robinson VS Spamton G. Spamton
Moofie:
I don’t know what to say, how did this even get here-
Announcements + Next Time
Dash Fish
Wow, WHAT a debate that was. Seriously, this was BotA’s closest matchup yet, and I seriously think it could still go either way. Initially before we started this I was fully on Team Benson, but as the advantages for Nicole started piling up I just felt the urge to switch. I will say that I definitely like Benson more as a character, but Nicole just eventually won me over. Benson even won the poll on the research Discord beforehand, just to come out losing in the end. Sorry, Benson bros. Still though, this MU is genuinely so close that in a few weeks I might change my mind again. Regardless, rewatching old Gumball episodes truly made me love the series again, and The Choices is seriously just one of my favorite cartoon episodes ever. Anyways! The Next Time. Can you believe I actually made a trailer for it? Woah!
